Prayer is a war room. A powerful weapon for every day battle. Jesus prayed every day. He prayed when his heart was troubled. He prayed when he was in deep sorrow. He prayed for his disciples. He prayed to thank his father in heaven. He prayed to let others know that his father hears him when he prays. He prayed in parables and he prayed all manner of prayers. He simply knew how to pray to his father in heaven and he prayed. We can learn at his feet and pray all manner of prayer and we can also pray the same prayer he prayed at different times.
For everyday Christian living, Pray The Lord’s prayer – Say the prayer below.
“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ Matthew 6:9-13
When sorrow overwhelms you, Pray that God’s will be done in that situation.
“Abba, Father, he cried out, “everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
When your heart is troubled – Pray that God will glorify his name in your life. And listen to what God says afterward.
“Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.”John 12:27-28
When you need wisdom and revelation from God – Pray that though God hid things from the wise and the learned of this world, but he reveals the mystery of the kingdom to his beloved. Pray that God will reveal the truth to you and give you the wisdom to deal with the revelation.
At that time, Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. Matthew 11:25-26
When you need to forgive others – Pray that God will forgive them
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. Luke 23:34
When you need assurance that God hears your prayers– Thank God that he has heard you and that you know he will always hear you when you ask in accordance to his will
So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” John 11:41-42
When you need to pray for others – Pray that their faith will not fail
But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”Luke 22:32
