Walk With God

Walking alone in the world without God is foolhardy. And leaning on your own understanding without asking God for wisdom and direction can only lead to one thing; death. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it is the way of death (Proverbs 16:25 (CSB)”). God is all knowing like God and his ways lead to life. He is the only omnipotent and omniscient in existence. With him you are safe and found. Without him you are lost and in danger in the world. When you follow God’s ways, salvation is guaranteed, you can experience deliverance, your redemption is secured and you are protected from impending evil.

Get yourself in alignment with God and you will reap a heap benefit of obedience but do things your way, you will suffer the consequences that may arise with it. The ways of the world may be enticing and appealing but the end is always destruction or death. King Solomon called its benefit as vanity upon vanity (Ecclesiastes 1:2), that leads to death (Proverbs 14:12). But God’s way leads to abundant, fulfilling and eternal life (Mathew 7:14). When Moses tried to do things his way, by serving justice to an Egyptian with his bare hands, he suffered the consequences of becoming an outcast and making his home in a wilderness(Exodus 2:11-12).

God’s way is not killing but instilling his fear in the heart of men. A man who lives carelessly, is wasteful and selfishly follows his own ways will eventually lose his family. This clearly isn’t God’s plan for our lives but that we may be appreciative of one another, live selflessly and love one another. How many times have you tried to do things your way yet failed those many times? You may be one of the many people who is struggling to follow God’s ways. Struggling to walk in God’s ways isn’t part of the deal when you accepted Christ in your life. You no longer need to struggle in this way for there is help available to you and me in his word. We have His word. It is active and powerful. And we can use it to our advantage. For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires (Hebrews 4:12).

We can declare the scripture and speak the word of God over our lives, and our thoughts and attitude will be aligned to God’s will and grace that enables us to do right by him. So if you are struggling to follow God’s ways in your life, make the following declaration of faith your mantra until you see yourself doing right by God.

Make a Declaration of Faith

Monday

I declare today I will put my trust in God with all my heart. I will not lean on my own understanding but I will acknowledge him in all my ways and he will make my paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Tuesday
I have been made righteous through Christ Jesus, therefore I declare my way shall be made smooth, my path shall be levelled, it is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. I will follow God’s judgements, I will wait eagerly for his memory and my ways shall be made straight
(Isaiah 26:7, Proverbs 4:18).

Wednesday
I am a vessel unto the Lord, purified and sanctified for his glory. I will no longer compromise my faith nor my walk with God for the lustful desires of this world, but rather, I will observe God’s testimonies, seek after his heart and walk in his ways, and the Lord God will bless me. He will go before me and the God of Israel will be my rear guard.
(Psalm 119:1-3).
