There are so many trouble in this world. Jesus said it; “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”(John 16:33). In this year 2020 alone, there have been so many shocking news in the headlines yet we’ve only been through two months in the year 2020!
We have been shocked by the deaths of lifestyle celebrities like Kobe Bryant and Caroline Flack who were quite young and in the prime of their lives. Brexit is still happening and we are in a battle with the widespread Corona virus disease. Who knew there was anything like this that could bring China to a standstill (and affect the global markets)?!
One thing is certain though. This is not a one sided battle. This battle affects all of us; both believers and non believers, old and young, male and female. Nobody is left out in this battle. Our afflictions may be unique to individuals but collectively we need to pray to God to save our souls and to deliver our world from these many trouble.
Around this time last year, I went through troubled times. I was faced with a difficult battle and I started to pray the psalms as they came to mind. I didn’t know these psalms before but I needed to raise prayers to God and I turned to praying the psalms. They turned out to be the right prayers I needed to to pray for God’s intervention in my situation.
This year again, I have been praying through the psalms; crying for help from God, praying for his light to shine on every darkness, asking him to save us from many troubles and asking him to show us the truth in the muddled up situations we’ve found ourselves. So far I have found them to be quite powerful.
Where I couldn’t be as articulate or as insightful in prayers, the psalms do it for me and this is why I am sharing them with you. I realized that many people are more familiar and feel more comfortable with praying the psalms and this is why I’d like for you to join me on this prayer journey.
God is faithful every step of the way and He will fulfill his promise to us, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, the Lord delivers him from them all” (Psalm 34:19), if we are faithful to him. He will strengthen us and guard us from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 3:3) and none of the diseases ravaging through nations will fall on us.
