16 Days of Biblical Declarations to Help You Build the “Goodness” Character

Jesus Christ went about doing good. Can you say the same of yourself?

When was the last time you went about with the mindset of just doing good to others? Do you wake up in the morning and your number one motivation is to go about doing good? Most Christians do not do this. We do not have the mindset of Christ who had the character to go about doing good on earth. He was very zealous and passionate about His father’s business. His father’s business is to do good to all men. His father causes the sun to rise up on both the good and the evil. He causes the rain to fall for all men. He heals the sick and opens the blind eye. Jesus’s father is a good good father who Jesus mirrored while on earth. Do you do the same?

Many of us are so distracted by the activities of this world such that, what really matters to Christ does not necessarily matter to us. We seek to gratify self. We seek to live life for ourselves and not for God yet what God really wants is that we live a selfless life, for in this is our calling and our fulfilment in life. Doing good for others surely has its reward although its reward must not be your motivation but to fulfil the will of him that sent you in being the light of the world (Matthew 5:14).

I can never forget my return from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro as a challenge in aid of Compassion UK in January 2017. I didn’t expect anything in return but upon my return from the trip was a good read from the local newspaper. They had carried the news about the fundraising project and there was an interview about it all on Jesus House radio. When I extended myself a little bit to help others, its news spread across the board. This is one of the benefits of extending ourselves to others in need.

Doing good for others may not come to you naturally but you can develop, build, grow and express the good Christian character, and it doesn’t matter whether you are a new believer or a matured believer. It is not embraced in the world where evil and wickedness is prevalent with corruption, dishonesty, indecency, cruelty, immorality and self-centeredness but Christians must have it. It is what distinguishes us from the people of the world. We must look for the good in others and we must look out for the good of others. We must seek to do good to everybody we come across no matter their gender, age or status.

We have been called to conform to the image of Christ and not to the ways of this world. We have been called to uphold the image of Christ wherever we find ourselves. To embrace this benevolence may mean going against the norm and God is ready to empower us with this gift that only comes from Him. It is a fruit of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you and it is a good gift that brings blessings and rests for your soul (Jeremiah 6:16). If by any chance you desire fame at all, do good. Should you want anybody to take you seriously and treat you with respect, do good. The following Bible declarations can help propel you into a place of prayer where you are able to ask and receive this goodness of the Lord.

Make a Declaration of Faith

Day 1

I am thankful to God who always do good to all the people on earth whether they are good or they are bad (Psalm 145:9)(Psalm 86:5)(1 Chronicles 16:34, Psalm 106:1)

Day 2

I am thankful to God who always showers me with His goodness and mercy. His praise shall continually be on on my lips (Psalm 143:10).

Day 3

Today I will serve the Lord with the generous gifts He has given me. I will not be self focused but I will be more outward looking. I will use my gifts, talents and abilities to serve everybody I come in contact with. Henceforth, everybody on earth will benefit from the goodness of the Lord in my life and they will give glory to God in heaven (James 1:17).

Day 4

I have chosen to follow in the footsteps of Christ and He has enabled me to do good. Henceforth, as walk in God’s goodness I will also do good through HIm who lives in me. I will seek out to do good and I will go about doing good to humanity as Christ’s ambassador on earth (1 Timothy 4:4).

Day 5

I declare that I am full of God’s goodness. I am filled with all knowledge and I am able to instruct others according to God’s ways (Romans 15:14).

Day 6

I declare that as Christ Jesus was anointed to do good on earth and I have a heritage through Him, I am also anointed for goodness. Through the Holy Spirit who dwells in me, I will go about with this might and I will do good to others. I will love mercy and walk before God in humility and I will be just in all my dealings with people around me (Micah 6:8).

Day 7

Since I am heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ Jesus, I believe I am equipped with God’s goodness and I am competent for every good work (2 Timothy 3:17).

Day 8

I believe that out of the abundance of the Holy Spirit of God who dwells in me I will bring forth the fruits of the spirit of goodness. I will be good to others as opportunities present itself. I will be good to all men and especially to those in the household of faith (Matthew 12:35, Galatians 6:10).

Day 9

With God’s help, I will devote myself unto good works, to things which are excellent and profitable for all men (Titus 3:8-10).

Day 10

With God’s grace, I will make every effort to supplement my faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge and knowledge with goodness (2 Peter 1:5).

Day 11

As God gives me strength, I will render my service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man (Ephesians 6:7).

Day 12

Henceforth, I will trust God to bless me with his goodness because I fear his name so that I might test everything and hold fast to what is good (Psalms 34:8, Psalm 31:19, 1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Day 13

I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living henceforth! (Psalm 27:13).

Day 14

I believe I have been specifically chosen by God with grace to approach the throne of mercy and so I am blessed and satisfied with the goodness of God’s house, even in his holy temple (Psalms 65:4).

Day 15

I believe that the God of the universe will make all things to work together for my good because I love him and I have been called according to his purpose (Romans 8:2).

Day 16

I declare that God’s goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever (Psalms 23:6).
