Confess the Word When Struggling To Admit Personal Wrongdoings

Buried with Christ

Not admitting personal wrongdoings is an act the world is accustomed to and you will be forgiven to think that such behaviour does not exist among Christians. Unfortunately, Christians do struggle with this unethical behaviour too. It started from the beginning when Adam blamed Eve for giving him the forbidden fruit to eat and Eve, in turn, blamed the crafty serpent for playing a trick on her (Genesis 1: 12-13). The truth is, despite having accepted Christ as personal Lord and saviour, Christians still struggle with the flesh until the mind is completely renewed and life is transformed in Christ Jesus (Romans 12:2).

Apostle Paul struggled so much with the flesh, he lamented; “Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?” (Romans 7:24 NLT), “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate” (Romans 7:15).

The Bible states that we have been chosen to conform to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29) and not to conform to the world. Unfortunately, the world has become like the crafty serpent and instead of encouraging admittance of wrongdoings, it discourages non-conformists from doing the right thing. Should you admit being wrong in the world today, you are seen as a weakling and therein lies the struggle. The struggle to be seen as strong, independent, to be seen as a team player and be accepted in the workplace, in the social circle, among friends and family is real among Christians too.

Sadly, the underlying cause for this prevalent plague is the pride and there is a need to be cleansed of it. The Bible admonished us to stay away from pride, it comes before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon reaped the consequences of being proud, he became an animal until God had mercy on him (Daniel 4). We are now in Christ Jesus and we must no longer conform to the way of the world but God’s way of doing things.

Should you struggle with admitting wrongdoings, do not be ashamed of it, do not cover it up, instead seek God’s help in humility and ask him to help you to be considerate of others in deeds and in words. This would be a sign of personal spiritual growth. Bible declarations below aim to help you on your way to freedom from this transgression.
