Make the Right Choice

Choices, Choices, Choices! We all make a choice of some kind every day but are we making the right choice? In the world where options abound, are we making the right choices as children of God? This is not something to do in a hurry or to consider with your own instinct. You cannot rush in and you cannot rush out when making a choice. You must do it with such great care lest you live in regret for the rest of your life. To make the right choice, a careful consideration and a constant consultation with the Lord on each option set before you must be adopted at all time.

When making a choice at home, at work, in the community, among friends, in the family, with the media, in the government, on social media and beyond, it must not be centred on yourself alone rather it must start with an understanding that the options set before you are not just about you, your desires, your wants, your present need or your present situation but about the bigger picture in God.

The choices you make today must be beyond focusing on yourself only. It must be about being an ambassador for Christ and doing right by God at all times. It must be about setting standards and staying in the truth. It must be about making Jesus known, living and bringing down the kingdom of God on earth just as it is in heaven. Because when you make the right choice with God in it, he will influence your future and steer the course of your life to a glorious destiny. But when you make a choice without Jesus in it, there’s bound to be mistakes and such error can mar your destiny for life.

When Zacchaeus the tax collector made a choice for Jesus in his life. He wasn’t sure what Jesus would do or how he would be received. Despite people’s perception of him, he let go of his image, his values, his job and he made Jesus his choice for life. He focused his thought and action on getting to Jesus and the end result was a Miracle of a lifetime, his salvation. Are you in the public eye like Zacchaeus? Don’t think about what people will say or what will happen to your image, just make a choice for Jesus and see the result.

Your thought processes may be under an attack when trying to make the right choice, don’t panic, take control of your thoughts and put your options through the litmus test using the word of God in Philippians 4:8; it asks that we think on these things and when faced with such tasks, you must ask these questions, are any of these options true? Are they noble? right? pure? lovely? admirable? Excellent or praiseworthy–think about these things and your steps will be ordered by God.

As a Christian, you must no longer be lackadaisical with making the right choices. You must no longer fold your hands and gamble your life away when faced with such daunting tasks. You must surrender and submit yourself under the mighty hand of God. Let him guide your choices. Your environment and people around you will want to influence your choices, you must look beyond the physical and stretch your faith a little bit further. Do not allow peer pressure dictate your choices. Whatever choice you make must bring glory and honour to God.

Instead, you must understand that though making the right choice in the midst of oppositions or under pressure may be daunting, it can be done with Jesus. You may be in this world but you are not of this world and you must henceforth, put Jesus in the forefront of your choice making. and make a choice with Jesus. Where doubts and confusion may set in, Make a choice with Jesus and he will come in bringing clarity of vision and soundness of mind to the troubled at heart.

Whenever you are feeling overwhelmed with the options set before you, follow in the footsteps of your big brother Jesus, He said; “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does (John 5:19)”. Jesus always aligned his choices with his father’s will and you must strive to do the same.

When bombarded with questions in your mind and confusion or frustration tries to set in, when feeling the weights of making the right choice, ask these questions and they will guide your choices; what would Jesus do? Will Jesus consider any of these options or will Jesus think outside of the box and consider other options? Are any of these options kingdom oriented? Is any of them aligned with God’s plans and purpose for his children? Will any of them promote God’s kingdom and honour Jesus in our world?

Are you struggling to make the right choice today? The following declarations will help bring your focus back on Christ and guide you towards what is best for your situation.
