Sometimes life throws a curveball of emotional dysregulation at us triggering negative feelings such as feeling abandoned, betrayed and hurt. we must first turn to God’s word. It’ll comfort us, help us recover our identity in Christ and restore our faith in God. Even when the world prescribes coping mechanisms to deal with negative emotions, Christians still need to speak biblical declarations to overcome negative feelings, especially when feeling abandoned, betrayed and hurt. It is the best way to have total freedom instead of enduring Although the world has devices to cope with the emotional rollercoaster, a child of God should not have to endure difficult situations but you must remind yourself of your identity in Christ and speak biblical truth to deal with the root cause of your negative feelings so you bounce back quickly.
How does one deal with feeling abandoned, betrayed and hurt by the people you trust the most? Despite the hurt, pain, anxiety or joy that these relationships or friendships bring our ways, we must first realise that they are part of our life journey and we need them to manifest our best life in Christ. Supposed Jesus Christ suffered the same fate and he cried out to his father in heaven, “Abba Father” (Matthew 27:46). King David encouraged himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6) and Joseph forgave his brothers who sold him into slavery (Genesis 50:15-21). You too can speak biblical truths in your daily declarations to start your emotional healing journey. Although, we will always connect with various types of unusual relationships on our journey to manifest the abundant life in Christ. We need those relationships who are for you, lifting your hands and will stick closer than a brother, as much as others against you, are thorns in the flesh that you need on your life journey. So how does one deal with these emotional dysregulations and receive God’s healing?
We must, first and foremost, recognise that emotional trauma is not part of God’s plan for his children, so we can equip ourselves with biblical truths we extract from the Bible verses on dealing with feeling abandoned, betrayed and hurt, and speak Gods plans into existence in our lives. We must also be discerning of when the enemy is on patrol looking for whom to devour – “to steal, kill and destroy” (John 10:10). So we prepare ourselves to boldly declare that “we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16), we cancel emotional trauma in our lives, and receive emotional wholeness from God.
When the enemy makes you feel unwanted and unloved through the people he uses, you can declare your identity in Christ and let them know that you choose the truth above lies and God loves you unconditionally. We refute the lies of the enemy to live in emotional turmoil and receive emotional wholeness in Jesus’ name. We assume our believer’s authority in our spiritual exercises and speak daily biblical declarations to encourage ourselves in the Lord. The enemy’s behaviour towards us may sting like bees leaving us to suffer emotional distress. Reading through the Bible to know the biblical truths for ourselves will quicken our steps into recovery from such emotional trauma.
When he makes you feel unwanted and unloved through the people he uses, you declare your identity in Christ and let the devil know that you choose the truth above lies and God loves you unconditionally. We should equip ourselves with the word of God so that when we can engage our believer’s authority in spiritual exercises and speak daily biblical declarations to encourage ourselves in the Lord. We can choose to emulate Jesus Christ and cry out to his Father in heaven; “Abba Father” (Matthew 27:46) or enquire of God on what to do about the situation as King David did (1 Samuel 30:6) in their time of distress.
When we have been hurt especially by loved ones, feelings of abandonment, betrayal and hurt don’t often leave us easily but we can comfort ourselves in the story of Jesus Christ our saviour. When He was faced with harsh criticisms and judgement that could have left him with these feelings, he focused on his father’s will, he forgave his disciples and he fulfilled his purpose in life. Not once is it recorded in the Bible that Jesus dwelt on the hurt and pain his disciples might have caused him? It is natural to go through emotions and feelings but it is not natural to dwell on them as they can be detrimental to your health.
If you are feeling betrayed, abandoned and hurt by your closest allies, friends, family, colleagues, employer, follower, leader or whoever you hold in high regard, the following declarations will help shift your focus on who really matters and what you need to do. So speak the word and change your world for good.
Day 1
God is for me, nobody can stand against me. God is fighting my battle, the enemy will be defeated. For God is my defence and my rock, the effect of hurt, betrayal and abandonment will not cast a shadow over my identity (Romans 8:31)
Day 2
I have not been called into hatred but to love, forgive and pray for my enemies. Therefore I pray and declare God’s love over all those against me. I declare that their hearts will be flooded with God’s love and they will experience the love of God that surpasses any human love (Ephesians 3:19).
Day 3
For the weapons of my warfare are not the weapons of the world but they have divine power to demolish strongholds. Therefore I release my weapon of faith today and I destroy all human reasonings and false arguments set up against the knowledge of God in my life, and I take captive every thought and they shall be obedient to Christ henceforth.
Day 4
God is for me. God has got my back in all situations. God loves me and he defends my case in the midst of my enemies (John 3:16).
Day 5
I forgive you and I bless you in the name of the Lord. Though you betray, hurt and abandoned me, I will not hold against you but I will walk in the love of God and I pronounce God’s blessing over you. I declare that you will be filled with the love of God beyond your imagination from this time forth.
Day 6
I declare that I am strong and courageous in the face of adversity. I am not afraid of what mere mortals can do to me. This situation will not bring me down for the Lord my God is with me. He will leave me nor forsake me (1st Chronicles 28:20).
Day 7
I declare that this situation will work together for my good. My God is turning this around for His glory. His hands are upon me and He will bring me justice (Romans 8:28).
