Seeking the Peace of Mind Declarations

Peace of Mind

Everybody wants peace of mind but nobody is actively seeking this peace. With headlines filled with terrorist news and breaking news that fuels fear in the heart of mind leading to aggravations, financial downturn affecting people’s finances enslaving them to money making machines, public unrest and political disorder creating worries in homes that leads to domestic assault, gun crimes and knife crimes creating false confidence in the heart of the youth; nobody seems to know the time to seek for the peace of mind.

Jesus Christ came to the world to give us peace; violence, injustice, terrorism, wars and threats must not steal our peace in Christ. We must seek and find this peace, we must pursue peace with all men (Hebrews 12:14). When Jesus encountered the con men who tried to trick him into causing political unrest by asking him whether they should pay taxes, he didn’t get into an argument with them but with the wisdom he replied; give Cesar what belongs to Cesar and give to God what belongs to God (Mark 12:13-17).

At another time he encountered the taxman, he could have refused to pay taxes as a citizen of the land, instead, he instructed Peter to pay the taxes. Should Jesus have refused to pay the tax man, trouble might have ensued. Instead, Jesus avoided trouble and as a result, peace reigned (Matthew 17:24-27). Likewise, Christ-followers must follow in his footsteps and replicate his character in practical ways that will create peace in the world.

In the midst of the storm, Jesus demonstrated how to have peace to his disciples (Matthew 8:24) – he remained calm and he rebuked the storm. Christians must learn from him and follow in his stead – remain calm in the face of trouble and rebuke the storm. When I had troubles in my relationships, I went back to God and I rebuked the storms rocking my relationships in the name of Jesus and God was faithful to honour my prayer requests.
