10 Biblical Declarations to Encourage and Strengthen the Persecuted Christians
Declaration of faith: I am fighting the good fight of faith with Christ and I will win this battle with him on my side (1 Timothy 6:12).
The persecution of Christians is not an obvious crime that can go up for trials and neither is it for your everyday court judgement. Yet, it is on a yearly increase. Yes, the Bible believing Christ followers in various countries are suffering for their faith. remember getting teary-eyed at the hearing of the fate of the persecuted Christians in various countries. I thought of their courage and the boldness they show in the face of adversity. Their lives couldn’t have been far from being different from mine, yet they make a stand for Jesus, even if it leads to death or imprisonment. There are at least over 300 million Christians in this situation, and they go through gruesome persecution with little or no intervention from their neighbours. Their faith in Christ in countries such as Afghanistan, North Korea, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Burkina Faso and, in my birth country, Nigeria means facing being stripped and beaten, isolation and rejection from loved ones, death by a fire while the service is going on in church on a Sunday or life imprisonment, and this keeps increasing every year.
When Jesus told the parable of the good samaritan (Luke 10:25-37), I believe he was instructing his followers to be kind to strangers despite their race, colour or stage in life, and now is the perfect time to obey Jesus’ instruction. Although they are in over 70 countries facing persecution, they are not strangers to us. Instead, they are a part of our family member who are being sentenced to life imprisonment, deaths, hardships, insults and another form of persecution or the other, all because they have chosen to live godly lives. I believe that this is the time to do whatever we can for any of these strangers because whatever we do for them, we also do for Christ too (Matthew 25:40).

Let us as brethren in Christ rise up to support our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering because of the gospel. Let us respond with kindness even if we do not have the skills or the experience to fight the cause of our persecuted brethren. We are the hands and feet of Jesus (1 Corinthians 12:27) who must come together for the whole body of Christ to function effectively. This cross is not for the persecuted Christians only to carry but for all believers to carry for Christ’s sake.
Let their sufferings and courage to stay in faith during trials and tribulations inspire your faith to rise in Christ. Let it convict your spirit to do something about it too. seek justice and advocate for their cause no matter your limitations. As God gives you grace, support them through Open Doors UK, an international ministry serving the Persecuted Christians and churches worldwide. Do it in faith knowing fully well that you are defending the weak, the fatherless and upholding the cause of the poor and the oppressed as we’re instructed in the Bible (Psalm 82:3).
We can support with prayers, donations, with provisions, raise an awareness of this gruesome act against Christians, send our brothers and sisters gifts, fundraise for the cause of the persecuted or support in any other ways the Lord is asking us to offer our support.
