- I am in Christ Jesus and therefore I am a new creation. Old things have passed away and all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
- If I sin, I have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous (1 John 2:1 ESV). 23. All of God’s promises are yes and amen for me because I am in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20).
- I am qualified in Christ to be a partaker of the inheritance of the saints (Colossians 1:12). 25. God my Father has delivered me from the power of darkness and transferred me into the kingdom of His beloved Son (Colossians 1:13).
Doubt may set in. Confusion may find its way to you. Friends may mock you. The family may dissuade you. Colleagues at work or an acquaintance may taunt you. It’s all the ploy of the enemy to shift your focus away from the true God. It’s all a plan of the devil to make you afraid of the glorious future ahead of you. The devil does not let go easily. When he sees that you have made the beeline to turn your life around for the best and you have accepted Christ as your Lord and saviour, he will try all in his capacity to deceive, tempt and lure you out of God’s marvellous light. Staying in faith can be quite a struggle for new Christians if care is not taken. Begum Bilquis Sheikh was a new convert from Islam to Christianity and in her book, I dared to call him father, she narrated her story of family exclusions, community condemnations, death threats and several attempts to dissuade her from her newfound faith in Christ. Her journey to becoming a fully fledged Christian was not at all that smooth. Yet she persisted in her faith and she followed Christ with all her heart, her mind and with all her might. Had she not been convinced of her call to Christ, she would have crumbled under pressure and she would have lost her faith entirely.
