Category: Christian Beliefs

Christians believe in the Triune God – God the father who is the supreme being, God the son – Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. Fundamental to this belief in the Triune God are Repentance from sin, Salvation, Baptism by water and the Holy Spirit, and Faith in God.

Biblical Declarations of Salvation for Your Loved Ones

God does not want the death of sinners nor does he want anybody to go to hell or die in their sins. That is the reason why Jesus came to save the world from our sins. That is why God is patient and long-suffering. He is patiently waiting for the lost and He wants them in His kingdom. However, it can be difficult for Christians who have accepted this truth but their loved ones are yet to embrace the truth. My brother is a perfect example of this situation. He was brought up in a Christian home with Christian values but he has since turned his back on those things that gave him life as a child. He is currently lost and searching in life and I have been praying for his salvation for a while now. I love my brother despite his attitude towards the gospel and I will continue to pray for him, declare the scriptures over him until he has a change of heart. I know God loves my brother and He is waiting for him to call out for mercy so that he too can receive a pardon for his sins. But until my brother is ready and willing to take the next step into freedom, I will do my part by praying for him until he gives his life to the Lord Jesus Christ.

15 Days Biblical Declarations for New Christians to Stay in Faith

Staying in faith can be quite a struggle for new Christians. Sometimes we can be easily swayed with words that make us turn our backs on God. Other times we are faced with so much hardship that we run back to our old ways of living life and at other times, we are simply persecuted for turning our backs on religion and embracing a relationship with God. In all our struggle to staying faith in Christ however, backslide from our newly found faith in Christ. Begum Bilquis Sheikh was a new Christian who converted from Islam to Christianity and in her book, I dared to call him father, she narrated her story of family exclusions, community condemnations, death threats and several attempts to dissuade her from her newly found faith in Christ. Her journey to becoming a fully fledged Christian was not at all that smooth. Yet she persisted in her faith and she followed Christ with all her heart, her mind and with all her might. Had she not been convinced of her call to Christ, she would have crumbled under pressure and she would have lost her faith entirely. Confess the Word When Struggling To Admit Personal Wrongdoings

Not admitting personal wrongdoings is an act the world is accustomed to and you will be forgiven to think that such behaviour does not exist among Christians. Unfortunately, Christians do struggle with this unethical behaviour too. It started from the beginning when Adam blamed Eve for giving him the forbidden fruit to eat and Eve, in turn, blamed the crafty serpent for playing a trick on her (Genesis 1: 12-13). The truth is, despite having accepted Christ as personal Lord and saviour, Christians still struggle with the flesh until the mind is completely renewed and life is transformed in Christ Jesus (Romans 12:2). Say a Prayer of Repentance on Ash Wednesday

Repentance is not for sinners only, it is for new Christians, mature Christians and everybody who is capable and willing to admit personal wrongdoings (James 5:15, Ephesians 5:11), accept own responsibilities (Romans 14:10) and make peace with God and man. Though we live in a world where people hardly admit wrongdoings, this is not the Christian way of living life in abundance. The Christian lifestyle would be to realise personal mistakes, admit wrongdoings, repent and refrain from repeating the same mistakes again. In the history of Christianity, Ash Wednesday has been consecrated for such an act of repentance. Continue reading “Say a Prayer of Repentance on Ash Wednesday”

Walk With God

Walking alone in the world without God is foolhardy. And leaning on your own understanding without asking God for wisdom and direction can only lead to one thing; death. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it is the way of death (Proverbs 16:25 (CSB)”). God is all knowing like God and his ways lead to life. He is the only omnipotent and omniscient in existence. With him you are safe and found. Without him you are lost and in danger in the world. When you follow God’s ways, salvation is guaranteed, you can experience deliverance, your redemption is secured and you are protected from impending evil. Continue reading “Walk With God”

Speak the Word for Your Provision

Provision has been made through Christ for our survival in life otherwise Jesus would not have come to earth. He came to earth, to give us life in abundance (John 10:10)  so that we do not live a mediocre life.  Therefore you no longer need to worry over what you will eat, drink or wear (Matthew 6:25-34) because you have more than enough through Christ who supplies all your need from his abundant riches. Instead of worrying over your needs, put your faith to the test and reach out to the Lord in prayer henceforth. Do not allow worry into your heart for when you start to worry, you doubt God’s power of provision for you and this does not provide the faith you need to bring about your desires. Speak the Word of Assurance for Your Salvation

There are moments in a Christian life when doubts set in and he needs an assurance of his salvation. Soon after he became a Christian in college, author C S Sprout wrote a book titled; Can I lose my salvation? he shared his experience where he was advised by an elderly woman to “drive a spiritual stake in the ground right now.” He needed to make sure his conversion was forever. You may not have received a sound advice like C S Sprout when you accepted Christ as your Lord and saviour but as time goes by, you may find life happen and you begin to wonder and ask yourself some serious questions; Am I a Christian? Is my salvation real? Continue reading “Speak the Word of Assurance for Your Salvation”

Let The Holy Spirit Teach You

Life is overwhelming sometimes. One moment you are sure of the way to go. You seem to be in control of your life. You know which direction your life is heading. Then something throws in the spanner and throws you off course. Something happens to a perfectly planned life creating a state of confusion and frustration.

It is very easy to throw in the towel at the moment things are not working according to plan. The moral thing to do is to give up and stop living life. But there is somebody who is always available to show the way forward, that person is the Holy Spirit.

When feelings of lost sets in, the Holy Spirit will teach you what you need to do to find your bearing. Why not call out to him for help today?

Make a Declaration of Faith

I declare the Holy Spirit is my advocate, he will teach me all things. I am anointed to abide in him. His gifts will not be taken from me. He will remind of all the things that I need to know for the moment. I will not be left stranded nor frustrated. I have the tongue of the learned to speak comfort to the weary. I will not lack for words. I will call on him for help in times of need and he will answer me. He will give me the right solution to each problem I may be facing. He will prepare and instruct me on the best pathway for my life. I will not be lost in life. This is my declaration.

How to Return to God After Sinning

Since the time Adam sinned, sons of man have inherited death through sinning. “All men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God“Romans 3:23. Through this, everybody born of man can no longer inherit eternal life except we ask for the forgiveness of our sins, repent from sinning and follow God through his son Jesus Christ.

Simply put, we are all sinners “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” 1 John 1:8; and God’s eyes cannot behold sin (Habakkuk 1:13). How then can we return to God? I hope the following will convict and convince you to come back to God.

1) You must acknowledge that you are a sinner.  Admit your sins. For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Think about it this way; when you love somebody, you expect them to be open and honest with you. When your loved ones then lie to your face, how do you feel? do you feel bad? do you feel hurt, do you feel betrayed? That’s exactly how God feels when you do not admit your sins to him.

2) Choose not to hide your sin. Have you ever thought about why David was so special so much so that God said he was a man after his own heart? (Acts 13:22). David was a sinner like everybody else. He committed the most atrocious sins on the earth. He committed murder and then he tried to hide his sin.

This story is about David and Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11). The most atrocious adultery ever committed in history. David saw Beersheba, another man’s wife and proposed in his heart to sleep with her. Bathsheba got pregnant for David from their first night together and David decided to kill Uriah, the Hittite, Bathsheba’s husband.

David thought he was hiding his sin but God exposed him. The son died and the whole world knows the story till today. Moral of the story is there is nothing hidden from God. You may have succeeded in hiding your lies for a very long time, the truth will catch up with you, one day and the consequences may last a lifetime.

3) Be honest about your sins. Be open to God. He is your father in heaven. He may chastise you but he will never condemn you. Ananias and Saphira once sold their land (Acts 4). They chose to sow the proceeds of their land to God. When they got to the man of God, they lied about the proceeds for they kept some of the money to themselves. They had a good heart but a bad attitude. Because of this character, God struck them and they wound up dead. Both husband and wife died because of lies. Do not hide your sins from God. Simple honesty will spare your life.

Telling lies is a very bad character and one of the detestable sins before God. Say a Prayer of forgiveness for telling lies and being deceitful.

4) Think it through. Break it down in every area. List it out if you must but make sure you cover each sin. Do not be like the hypocrites or the heathen(Matthew 6:5-8), be clear over what you are saying before God.

5) Say the prayer of forgiveness over sin and believe in your heart that God has forgiven you. Turn away from that sin instead, cultivate a good character. May God be with you and fulfill the desires of your heart.
