Recovery From Identity Crisis

There are moments in life when the struggle gets real and a Christian finds himself or herself in an identity crisis. Those are moments when you are discontented with life. This is the time when you wish you had somebody else’s privileges, gifting or abilities otherwise things would have been different for you. These are moments when you may begin to compare your failures with somebody else’s achievements. Those are times when you may look in the mirror but you wish you were as beautiful as that other person or you wish you had the same lifestyle as that of the other human being. Those are times when life may seem unfair otherwise you would have the same beauty as that of Queen Esther, or you would have the courage as that of Joshua the son of Nun, the bravery of Naomi who lost everything abroad yet returned home to face her fate in the God of Israel, the faith of Daniel who stood in faith even in the face or adversity or the lifestyle of King Solomon who was the wealthiest man on earth.

When these thoughts pervades your mindset and everyday Christian life looks like Christianity isn’t working for you, then it is the time to get real with God, focus on him and allow his strength to be made perfect in your weaknesses. When these thoughts pops up in your mind, the best thing for us to do is to turn to God, stand fast with the belt of truth and counter every false lies of the devil with faith declarations. When the truth about who you are in God and the truth of God concerning you seems thwarted by the enemy’s fiery arrow, that is the best time to to fight back with your shield of faith. When it seems you are alone in this fight, be encouraged by the story of Moses who was born Jewish, raised as an Egyptian and at some point suffered from identity crisis yet who eventually embraced who God created him to be (Hebrews 11:24-25).

The best things of this world does not define who you are, only God does. Somebody once said this statement; “Be yourself, everybody else is taken”, allow me to say this to you, your DNA is different to others, your paths in life is different, follow it and become who God created you to be.

====================================

Principalities and powers of this world are subjects to me because Christ is in me and greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.

I wear the image of God because in him I live, in him I move and in him I have my being. Nothing can tamper with my identity. No one can box in the image or the identity of God. I declare that Therefore no one will be able to box in my image or my identity for this reason I was made in the image of God and after his likeness.

My image cannot be boxed in or hidden for I was fashioned in the image of God and after his likeness. Henceforth God in me speaks through me. The inage of Christ over me speaks for my identity. I live like Christ in dominion over every other living creature on earth. I am specially created in the likeness of God for God’s blessings in fruitfulness, multiplication, subduing and dominion of the earth for God’s purpose on earth. God took one good look at me and he says I am wholesome and I am a good work of his hands.

3 Biblical Declarations For New Christians To Affirm Their Identity in Christ

Now that you are born anew, you no longer belong to the world.  You are now a child of light (1 Thessalonians 5:5). You belong to the heavenly kingdom. The race of life set before you (Hebrews 12:1) may sometimes get overwhelming and the enemy may come trying to steal treasures within (John 10:10). The Christian journey is exciting but there are times when you may need to affirm your identity in Christ in order to win the battle ahead (Mathew 4:1-11). As a new Christian, you may find yourself in self-doubt and unbelief over your new found faith, this is when biblical declarations come in handy.

When you find yourself faced with opposition from your most loved and trusted friend or family, when you find yourself slipping back into the old habit and this has led to guilt and condemnation, get ready to fight through this war over your mind and soul. Get ready to dig deep into the word of God and fight the good fight of faith for your salvation. Get ready for an adventure with the light of the world, Jesus Christ (John 8:12). Get ready to leave the rat race behind and to win the race ahead through the denial of self, carrying your cross and following Christ all the way (Matthew 16:24-26).

When you strap your helmet of salvation to your head, the breastplate of righteousness to your chest, the sandals of good news to your feet and the sword of the spirit in your hands, you will have no reason to doubt yourself but to live in victory and overcome the wiles of the the devil and his cohorts.

The following biblical declarations will help you to affirm your true identity in Christ and help build your confidence in Christ Jesus.

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20).

I am in Christ Jesus now,
I am a new creation
old things have passed away
all things have become new
I am no longer subjected to the old way of doing things
I am at liberty to do the right things through Christ who gives me strength. (2 Corinthians 5:17).
……………………………………………………………………..
3.
I am part of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that I may proclaim the excellencies of him who called me out of darkness into his marvellous light (1 Peter 2:9).

50 Biblical Declarations of Christians’ Identity in Christ

Do you know who you are in Christ? Can you honestly accept the truth in God’s word about your true identity? God knows who you are and He calls you what He sees not what the world sees in you. Your life can never remain the same again when you agree with what God says in his word about you. Why not try changing your words from saying, “I don’t think I can make it”, to “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.
