I had a panic attack recently and it gave me an insight into what most people who suffer from anxiety, fear of the future and Monday blues go through. I didn’t know what was happening to me at the time but it felt like my mind was going to pop right out of my chest. My chest was tight and I had very little strength in my body. My mind was numb and my brain was hurting badly. I thought I was going to run mad. I wanted to get through to the people around me but nobody picked up their calls. Can I ask you a question? When is the last time you really thought about the people in your life and you thought to pray God’s blessings over them or prayed for their well-being? This is something I was personally guilty of until a strong impression was laid upon my heart to start praying God’s blessings over the lives of the people in my life. It’s not just praying for your immediate family members or those who are close to you but praying for everybody on your mobile phone and on your email contact list, including those you don’t have direct contact with, those you don’t get along with, those you barely know and those you are probably just in business together. You may not have considered praying God’s blessings over your relationships before but you will be doing God’s will and yourself a great favour when you pray for every body in your contact list. God wants you to pray over your relationships; family, work, social, church, community relationships, friends, acquaintances and everybody that you are connected with in life (Ephesians 6:18). Declaration of Faith: I declare my trust is in God’s perfect timing. I have not missed my windows of opportunities. Instead of a setback, God is setting me up for bigger things in life. He is working everything out for my good. I will fulfil my destiny. I will experience His favour and He will accomplish His perfect plan for my life. I am not afraid of the future because I have a God who holds my future in His hands. (Psalm 31:14, Psalm 56:3, Psalm 9:10).
It is very possible to struggle to trust God at some point in life. We will rather trust in the devil we know than trust int he saints we do not know, and this is because somewhere along the line, somebody or something has damaged our trust in people. We get hurt but we turn it against God questioning Him on why he allowed such a high to happen to us. But God is not to blame for our struggles and he is not the cause of our misfortunes with people, instead the enemy sows the seed of discord and causes the heartbreak.
We cannot see God in the flesh yet we are encouraged to trust in Him completely. How possible can this be considering that we will have to relinquish all control to him when we cannot see him in the flesh. Isn’t it better to trust the devil you know than the saint you don’t know? You are probably struggling with these thoughts as most people, and it’s ok to feel this way because it is what makes us human. We will rather have a level of control to manoeuvre things in life than to relinquish all control to God. It’s just not in our nature and it’s not an easy thing to do at all. Sometimes it is easier to trust a man we can see than trust in the God we cannot see, and this is because we are able to hold a fellow human being accountable for their actions than to accuse God of wrongdoings when things go wrong. We will rather have a human flesh to blame than hold God accountable.
But with God, holding him accountable for your demise would be futile. Who do you want to call to the table of judgement than the same God who is the judge of all? But God is trustworthy. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will never let you down when everybody deserts you. When nobody can see the logic reasoning behind those difficult moments, God is there holding your hands up telling you that all shall be well. This is for the Christian who sometimes feel less self-worth. This is for you who the society oftentimes make you feel a little less of who you are. It is for you who the community, friends, family or loved ones make you feel less of who the Lord created you to be. This is for you who sometimes get hurt as a result of people’s judgemental opinion of your behaviour, you who suffer from constant criticisms of your choices or disapproval of your decisions in life and making you feel less confident of your self-worth. Many people want to live a happy life but they are belaboured with sadness that comes from unfulfillment, troubles and trials of the world. Consider the life of a mother who once sought the Lord for a child many years. She laboured for nine hours in the labour room to bring the child to earth and nurtured the child up to adolescent but for the child to turn against her. That child has become a source of unhappiness for that mother and she cannot live a happy life due to her circumstance. Continue reading “Live a Happy Life Despite Your Circumstances”
The world often offers temporary happiness that comes with material things but there is true lasting happiness that is found in Jesus. It is a gift from God that comes when you choose Jesus as your Lord and saviour. It is a form of happiness that cannot be bought with money and neither can it be exchanged with worldly material things. It comes to dwell in your heart when you invite Jesus into your life and it grows within you when you spend time in the word of God. You have the capacity to contain it in your heart and you have the power in your tongue to speak it into existence in your world. Continue reading “Choose Lasting Happiness In Jesus With God’s Word”
Do you remember the movie “In pursuit of happyness”? It was acted by Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith. It was about a husband whose wife left him because she could no longer cope with the financial instability in their family. It was also about a father who did not allow himself to be limited by abject poverty or rejection but he tried all that he could to secure of his son and that of himself. At the end of that story the man became rich and he went on to help other people become rich too.
Life is often too busy with activities that we forget to be truly happy. We forget that happiness is part of life and it needs nurturing, it needs cultivating, it needs intentional pursuit of it. With happiness we can fully function in the world because it makes the world go round and a happy mind lives a contented happy life. When we intentionally pursue happiness we are choosing to pursue our inheritance in Christ and we have every right to claim it regularly using God’s Word.
Happiness can come alive for us if we make it a point of duty to speak it into existence first thing in the morning in our daily lives. It will cheer up the heart, lightens up the mood, and it makes doing our daily job easier than we can ever imagine. Happiness attracts the right people, it opens great doors you have never imagined and it will take you places you have not planned in your year.
Let us Speak it over ourselves for as often as we say wish one another a Happy New year. Declare it into your life until it affects positive changes in your world. Speak happiness over your life in alignment with God’s word for your New year goals and it will activate your desire for the best year ever. God I thank you for the greatest gift of all time; Jesus Christ who saves all from all sins. If it were not for Christ, I would have died in my sins. I would have perished with this world. Thank you for Emmanuel who is with us all the time. His presence makes all things better; Sorrow disappears, sadness goes away. Depression cannot stay and there is peace in the midst of all chaos.
Thank you for the gift of life and for your breath in our lungs. Thank you for entrusting us with the precious life you have given us. Many times we take this life for granted but you are gracious and patience with us all. You continue to love and support us in spite of our negligence of life. Thank you God for the ability to function when all things are dysfunctional. Thank you for the broken heart mended, for the sickly body healed and for the downcast spirit lifted.Continue reading “Celebrate Christmas with Thanks to God for Christ!”
