I had a panic attack recently and it gave me an insight into what most people who suffer from anxiety, fear of the future and Monday blues go through. I didn’t know what was happening to me at the time but it felt like my mind was going to pop right out of my chest. My chest was tight and I had very little strength in my body. Stress has a way of controlling people’s lives wherever it is welcomed. Unless you deal with it with the word of God it would have tampered with your well-being before you know it. It gets to you when you least expect it and it takes over your life in whatever you give it the chance. It creeps up on you at the least expected moments; be it whilst stepping out of your homes onto the motorway where all manner of driving skills are tested or stepping into the office with diverse kinds of personality clashes. Stress is always lurking around seeking whom to devour and if you allow it into your mind it will drag you out but you must overcome it with the word of God. Christ said it that “whoever wants to be greatest must be a servant” – Matthew 20:26. This simply means to humble yourself first and foremost if you want to be great among others. And if you want a change for good in your life, ask the Lord to start from your heart. Mother Theresa is honoured and well loved today because she humbled herself. She did not count herself to be above the lepers whom she cared for, instead, she moved her home to be among them and she served them.
It was the heart of Saul that the Lord first changed before he became King Saul. The Lord first dealt with pride in King Nebuchadnezzar’s heart before he was restored to his throne after having been humbled by God to live like an animal. Saul’s heart was touched on his way to Damascus before he became Paul, an ardent follower of Christ and the preacher of the gospel of good news. It was also Zacchaeus’s heart that the Lord first changed before he repented of his sins, decided to give back everything he fraudulently collected from people and he followed Jesus.
