Declare Your Faith as New Christians

Doubt may set in. Confusion may find its way to you. Friends may mock you. The family may dissuade you. Colleagues at work or an acquaintance may taunt you. It’s all the ploy of the enemy to shift your focus away from the true God. It’s all a plan of the devil to make you afraid of the glorious future ahead of you. The devil does not let go easily. When he sees that you have made the beeline to turn your life around for the best and you have accepted Christ as your Lord and saviour, he will try all in his capacity to deceive, tempt and lure you out of God’s marvellous light. 24 Bible Declarations to Help New Christians Stay in Faith

Staying in faith can be quite a struggle for new Christians if care is not taken. Begum Bilquis Sheikh was a new convert from Islam to Christianity and in her book, I dared to call him father, she narrated her story of family exclusions, community condemnations, death threats and several attempts to dissuade her from her newfound faith in Christ. Her journey to becoming a fully fledged Christian was not at all that smooth. Yet she persisted in her faith and she followed Christ with all her heart, her mind and with all her might. Had she not been convinced of her call to Christ, she would have crumble under pressure and she would have lost her faith entirely.

A very smart and very intelligent gentleman once tried to confuse and dissuade my faith in God. Though he professed his belief in God, he still questioned God’s intent and authority on every level. By God’s grace, I was able to deduce that his reasonings and arguments with scriptural quotations were nothing but philosophical. Supposing God did not make me strong in faith, his arguments could have dissuaded me from believing in God and following Christ, I could’ve been lured away from faith and who knows what could’ve happened afterwards?

The Bible says that Christians, children of God, believers in Christ, followers of Jesus Christ must “see to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceits, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the universe, and not according to Christ“(Colossians 2:8).

There are many people like Begum Bilquis Sheikh’s community and this gentleman in the universe with good intentions. Their aim is to convince believers of what they believe to be the truth but the truth can only be found in Christ Jesus (John 1:14). If the human reasoning is not aligned with God’s will then its only plain ideologies and philosophies of the universe. Whatever stands against your faith stands against your light and Jesus Christ is your light (John 8:12). Be wary of such teachings, search the spirit behind such ideas and check all teachings against the scripture; if they are not aligned with God’s mind, they are not of God.  Be warned. Stay away from human ideologies and affirm your faith in God.

Be The Salt of The Earth.

Praise God. You are the salt of the earth! You have been cleansed through the blood of Jesus and preserved by God for a special assignment on earth. You have been named the life transformer and solution provider the world is waiting upon. Jesus said, ‘You are the salt of the earth’. There is no longer any confusion or objection surrounding your identity in God and in this world.

Jesus came to restore your identity and to clarify the son and daughter of whom you are. You are the child of God. An heir to the kingdom of heaven. Your identity is no longer in crisis but in Christ. He came to give you life, peace, hope and grace so that you may have life in abundance. You are no longer lost but you have been found. You are no longer blind but you can see. No longer under oppression but you can claim your freedom. You are no longer termed forsaken but you have a new name; the delight of the Lord. No longer frustrated but you can have peace, no longer confused but you can have clarity on who you are and to whom you belong. Jesus has calmed the storm of life and you can rest in his assurance.

You are the salt of the earth. Salt gives liveliness, piquancy, or pungency. It cures, it preserves. It’s a solution to many disasters. It gives taste to tasteless bland meals. It melts the snow and creates a firm grip on a slippery road. It heals bitter water. It adds interest or excitement to anything. Its misuse can cause a chaos, a disaster. But give salt to the person who knows it’s benefits and how to use it, and you can achieve your purpose, your goals. You can have victory where necessary.

In the course of fulfilling his purpose on earth, Jesus set the captives free from every bondage. He redeemed the chosen and the predestined from sin and death. He restored faith in the heart of men where it failed. He gave hope to the hopeless, help to the helpless, healing to the sick, comfort to the aggrieved. Before his death, he restored the dignity, the confidence and the identity of every child of God. He was the liveliness in every dull environment. He was the excitement that everybody travelled to see. He was the healer, the solution provider, the life transformer and he says you are the same.

Do you believe that you are the salt of the earth? or have you lost your savour as a child of God? But if the salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything but it is thrown out and trampled underfoot. Mathew 5:11. Have you been through condemnation, accusations, abuse or some form of torture? Have you been betrayed, tormented or persecuted? Have you lost your focus on Jesus? Are you lacking in confidence in God and in yourself? Are you going through an identity crisis? Do you know who you are in God and to whom you belong? Do you know your worth in the hands of the master and your assignment on earth? When in doubt about who you are, remind yourself of what Jesus said; He said, ‘You are the salt of the earth’.

Make a bold declaration of faith

I am the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13), I am well preserved, I am a preservative (Mark 9:49). My speech shall be graceful always, seasoned with salt to everyone that I might know how to answer everyone(Colossians 4:6). This is my declaration.
