We sometimes find ourselves in unsettling situations that causes us to cry, to grieve and to mourn for our misfortunes or disappointments. But at other times when we find ourselves in the middle of an ugly situation, instead of allowing our emotions get the best of us, let us find something good in that we are grateful to God for in this period. Let us find the silver lining in this cloud that will lift up our spirits and helps us be grateful to God. Continue reading “What Are You Grateful For In These Unsettling Times?”
When I look back on my life, I can think of multiple times when friends, family and strangers have shown me incredible love. Whether it was an early morning lift to the airport, a thoughtful gift in hard times, or just a much-needed kind word, I am so appreciative for the ways that I have been loved over the years.
But as treasured as these moments are, the most precious acts of love that I have experienced are the times when others have shared Jesus with me. Those beautiful moments when people have understood that the most loving thing I needed was to be pointed to Love Himself.
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”1 John 4:7-21
Did you know you already have victory through Christ over temptations?
We are oftentimes lured into temptation but this is down to the lustful desires of our hearts. We are enticed and drawn away into committing lustful sins. As James explains it; “Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away” (James 1:14 NLT).
Jesus was pure in heart, however, even though he was tempted by the devil., he had no sin (2 Corinthians 5:21). He was God on earth and God does not have lustful desires. He was not a sinner otherwise he could not have overcome the devil’s temptations. He was the righteous man made a sinner for us so that we can be the righteousness of God.
First, he was tempted so that the works of the devil could be exposed; “the devil always tempts people not God” (James 1:13). Jesus wanted us to understand what it’s like to be tempted because he himself was also tempted. Secondly, He wanted to make us aware that temptations will come our way in life, so we must be prepared for them.
Furthermore, Jesus combated the battle against temptation and won, so we now know that we also can have victory over temptations (John 16:33). The battle is already won, all we have to do is claim it!

This has been a year of answered prayers!
First my brother called my mum one day and apologized. It was a prayer answered! It was a major breakthrough in my family! We had prayed for his return to the family for many years and one day, my long lost brother came back to us. He sought for peace to reign and by God’s grace we were reconciled. Today my family is reunited. Thanks be to God for an answered prayer!
I also received the most wonderful news of all time. It was a desire come true as I read through the letter that confirmed an amendment to my identity. As you all know that identity is everything and once it’s compromised you lose your real self. Today I can boldly thank God for the restoration of my identity at home and abroad. This is a desire come true. This was an answered prayer! Continue reading “2019 – The Year of Answered Prayers”

Staying in faith can be quite a struggle for new Christians. Sometimes we can be easily swayed with words that make us turn our backs on God. Other times we are faced with so much hardship that we run back to our old ways of living life and at other times, we are simply persecuted for turning our backs on religion and embracing a relationship with God. In all our struggle to staying faith in Christ however, backslide from our newly found faith in Christ. Begum Bilquis Sheikh was a new Christian who converted from Islam to Christianity and in her book, I dared to call him father, she narrated her story of family exclusions, community condemnations, death threats and several attempts to dissuade her from her newly found faith in Christ. Her journey to becoming a fully fledged Christian was not at all that smooth. Yet she persisted in her faith and she followed Christ with all her heart, her mind and with all her might. Had she not been convinced of her call to Christ, she would have crumbled under pressure and she would have lost her faith entirely.
