Friends! Jesus forewarned us of the many trouble we would encounter in this world and he assured us of the victory we have in him but we also have a part to play in winning the battle;
We live in a troubled world where covid-19 has ravaged through nations causing a big pandemonium. Who knew there was anything like this that could bring China to a standstill and affect the global markets? The headlines are shocking and bad news spreads daily like a wildfire. And these things can be quite disheartening but we have Jesus Christ who we can thank for an assuring victory in him.
Have you ever felt imprisoned by life so much so that you tried everything but kept hitting a brick wall? I went through a time like this when my life was grounded to a halt. I felt trapped and unable to move forward. I was drowning in debt and it didn’t seem like I was going to ever come out of it. I lost my job and had no means of livelihood. For years I couldn’t work, travel, go on a holiday or go out with friends. My situation was worse than that of a wicked person. My life had been sapped out of me and all that mattered to me was to break free from it all.
When life stood still for me and all I could see was a dark tunnel without a glimpse of light, I kept praying through the Bible. That was a season when walls closed in on me and I couldn’t swim through the sea of life without talking to God about it. Although it seemed like my life was in total darkness and I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, God kept me safe. My life was not in total darkness and I sought for the light in prayers, Jesus came through for me.
Nobody is above tests in life. We all must go through it.
In fact, you would have written different tests in school throughout your childhood and all the way through to the university level in your adolescent. There is always one test or the other to write in order to progress from one class to another and the end result usually amounts to some level of academics achievement.
Your Life is not dissimilar to your educational experience. It is in different stages and it comes with different tests. In order to progress from one stage to another, there are different tests to write and those you must pass them.This is just the way God created the human being life cycle.
These tests are usually in the form of trials and tribulations. They often come unexpectedly and if you are unaware of them and unprepared for them, they will catch you off guard and you may fail them. When you fail these tests in your life, you will remain in one life cycle not moving forward, not achieving anything, not finding fulfilment nor purpose until you pass your tests.
Revival is the renewal of the mind and the transformation of lives in a society. It doesn’t just happen, it starts from individuals. It starts with having a mindset for a true change and being persistent in prayers for a touch from the Lord. That is what we have been praying for in my church and it has somehow extended to me personally.
In my quest for an intimate relationship with the Lord and sending regular prayers for a personal revival to heaven, I have noticed some events have taken place in my life and these I believe are critical to a Christian journey into personal transformation in Christ.
We tend to be friends with certain people in life. We gravitate towards those we think we can trust, those we share common ideas and ideals of life, those we are alike in nature and those we like to get on with. And then we stay away from those with whom we have nothing in common, we neglect those we see as lower than us in social class or status, and we cast aside those who we think we cannot gain anything from them. What we look out for, what we see and think in choosing the people in our lives have been warped with selfishness and wrong motives. We are failing to see and embrace a vital lesson in the life of Jesus who was intentional in his choice of disciples. We are failed to see vital lessons from biblical narratives of relationships and friendships. So, who are the unusual types of friends and acquaintances we need in our lives who will be instrumental to us fulfilling our God-given assignments on earth? Accepting and carrying out personal responsibilities can be quite daunting in the world that shifts blame on others. Thankfully, Christians don’t need to play the same game as the world does but we can renew our minds by tapping into the word of God as a source of help needed to work out own salvation and obey God with deep reverence and fear (Philippians 2:12). When you migrate from one country to another, you quickly learn about codes of conduct for that country and what your responsibilities are in order to be a good citizen. The same rule applies to the kingdom of God. Christians have personal responsibilities to accept and carry out for personal spiritual growth and for the advancement of the kingdom of God. You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty! You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet. Psalms 8:5-6
Your royal highness, you are crowned with glory and majesty, you are empowered to rule and reign like His Royal Highness in the Heavens, the King of all Kings and the Lord of all Lords. Your dominion on earth is second to none, your authority and power over all other creations is a masterclass. May all the fish of the sea obey your call whenever you call upon them as they obeyed Jesus Christ, may the fowl of the air attend to your request promptly without delay, may every living thing moving upon the face of the earth heed your call as they heeded unto Noah. Declaration of faith: I declare God’s blessings over my life. I will walk in my God given power and exercise my authority as God invested in me. Today I will function in my godly creative ability and my words will bring forth good things to the world around me. Genesis 1:26-28.
The hard things in life oftentimes make us doubt whether God really cares about us. When in suffering we ask God the question, why? yet God has made provisions for everything we need in life. It was the first thing he took care of at creation and then he released his blessings of increase and multiplications over each creation. It was the first thing he did for the man kind also after creation. Humankind is so powerful because we carry the image of God and are made after his likeness. This measn that we can crate new things out of nothing. We can have a vision and implement any ideas. We can see and speak forth what we see. We can effect changes around us for the benefit of others. We are so blessed and enriched with the power of God. We breathe in and out the breath of God on a daily basis and we are able to carry out our assignements on earth as a result.
One of the first things God did for his creations was to release his blessings over them. For the human kind he blessed them and said; “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” (Genesis 1:28). You are blessed already. Nobody can take it away from you and nothing can remove you from God’s blessings. He has already said it and He will bring it to pass in your life. Feel free to claim your blessings because you are really entitled to God’s blessings.
It was one of the first things that God did for the human kind at creation. He released his God has released his blessings too blessed to be stressed. God has released his blessings over you and you ought to receive them all into your life. You are blessed when you out and you are blessed when you come in. The maker of the heavens and the earth has released his blessings upon you and his blessings will manifest in your life if you believe it, receive it and begin to live in it.
God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature Genesis 1:26 (MSG).
You are made in the image of God, to be like God, to reign like God reflecting his nature, to be responsible for every other living being on the earth, to speak goodness into existence, to bring creativity alive, to give life where death lies, to ring the truth where lies have become the second nature. You are made in the image of God to reflect his nature, to bring order into a chaotic world, to cast light upon a shadow and be the light in the darkness. You are created to make good and lovely things out of nothingness, to be creative and be imaginative, and you have been empowered to do all of these and more, by the same God who made you.
