Biblical Declarations to Affirm Your Identity in Christ
Declaration of faith: I am who God says I am. I am the child of a great King. I have privileges of sonship with God. God approves me for greatness and I am becoming who He says I am. I am no longer live a life of mediocrity and I am staying focused on my God-given assignment so I can soar high like the eagles.
Have you ever been through a period of mistaken identity when people misjudged, misunderstood and made assumptions about who you are or who you should be? Our loved ones are sometimes guilty of this act. They make this mistake of thinking they know the real you and who you should become, and they are wrong about this, only God knows each person for who he created them to be. Jesus Christ experienced this with his parents too. Mary said to him, “Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you” to which Jesus answered them, saying, “did you not know I had to be in my Father’s house?“. Jesus knew his identity and the best way to deal with a mistaken identity is to affirm who you are to those who do not really know you.

Friends! They say that when the going gets tough the tough gets going but sometimes when the struggle gets real we are not so tough but we find ourselves confused and in an identity crisis state. Those are moments when we are discontented with life, we wish we had someone else’s privileges, gifting or abilities instead of ours. Those are the moments when we compare our failures to somebody else’s achievements. Those are the times when we look in the mirror and we wish that we are as beautiful as that other person or that we have the same lifestyle as that other human being. Those are times when life may seem unfair otherwise you would have the same beauty as that of Queen Esther, or you would have the courage as that of Joshua the son of Nun, the bravery of Naomi who lost everything abroad yet returned home to face her fate in the God of Israel, the faith of Daniel who stood in faith even in the face or adversity or the lifestyle of King Solomon who was the wealthiest man on earth. Negative experiences in life do cause Christians to suffer low self-esteem. Dealing with trauma, loss – loss of a child, loss of a job, loss of a family, negative thought patterns, previous bad choices, unrealistic goals, body image are a few of those negative experiences. This may be harder even on matured Christians. You may begin to wander and wonder; has God forgotten about me? You may even begin to ask God some questions, God why? Why did this happen to me? Why me and not somebody else? etc. Continue reading “Combat Low Self-Esteem”

To God, you are the sweet aroma of Christ. Through you, the world should have the experience of Christ so that the father may be glorified through the son. You carry a sweet fragrance of Christ in your heart and you ought to spread it to the uttermost part of the earth, allow your aroma to spread forth to the world. Anybody who walks through a beautifully scented garden never remains the same, their sense of smell is heightened as they breathe in the fragrance, their entire being accepts the fragrance, their face lits up, their mood changes and they will most likely carry that scent to wherever they go. Your life should model this experience to the world. Continue reading “I Carry The Sweet Aroma of Christ.”
Do you know who you are in Christ? Can you honestly accept the truth in God’s word about your true identity? God knows who you are and He calls you what He sees not what the world sees in you. Your life can never remain the same again when you agree with what God says in his word about you. Why not try changing your words from saying, “I don’t think I can make it”, to “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Continue reading “Declare Your Identity in Christ”
