Two Truths and a Lie About Christian singles

Before we go any further on the hope for Christian Singles, let’s explore two truths and a lie about Christian relationships and Christian dating advice. Deception often hurts because it comes close to something we wanted, prayed for, feared or believed. So, as we explore overcoming deception in the Bible, let’s uncover two truths and a lie that may help you return to God’s truth.

Yes, Christian relationships are absolutely God’s plan for all humanity, starting form creation. For example, God exemplifies this for us with Adam and Eve in the book of Genesis. Besides, God is love and this tells us that Christian Singles seeking love should seek it in earnest form God.

Adam saw Eve and declared out loud to her that she is his wife. Ruth humbled herself at the feet of Boaz under guidance of her mother in law who knew how to connect with Boaz. These are simple examples of subtle but bold Christian dating advice for Christian singles seeking love.

Yes, Christian relationships can be hard to find but when we explore the underlying factors of this statement, we know these are lies we tell ourselves and not what God says about it.

God is merciful and when you come to Him in humility, and truth, He can divinely connect you with the right person.

If you need help putting your thoughts into words, you may also find encouragement in this Scripture-led Break Free from His Deceit or in this The Lies We Tell Ourselves before we continue.

A Simple Prayer for Christian Singles Seeking Love

Lord, you know my heart. You know the desire I carry as a single Christian, the prayers I have prayed, and the moments when waiting has felt heavy. Please help me trust you without pretending. Teach me to guard my heart without hardening it. Heal the places where disappointment has made me afraid to hope again.

Lord, if marriage is part of Your plan for my life, prepare me with wisdom, peace, and emotional maturity. Lead me away from relationships that would wound me. Lead me toward love that honours You. But even now, help me live fully as a single Christian. Remind me that I am not forgotten. I am not behind. I am not less loved. Today, I choose hope, wisdom and walking with you one day at a time. Amen.

5 Bible-Based Truths for Christian Singles Seeking Love

Use these as gentle anchors for your heart as you wait, date, pray, and trust God with love. If disappointment has made it difficult to hope again, you may also find encouragement in our guide on Bible Verses for Emotional Healing.

1. Your Desire For Love Is Not Shameful

Read this Scripture: “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” — Psalm 37:4

Wanting love and marriage does not make you weak or unspiritual as a single Christain. However, desire needs care, because longing can become pressure when it is not brought back to God.

Speak life: Lord, my desire for love is safe with You. I will not be ashamed of longing, but I will trust You with my heart.

Heart check: Is my desire leading me closer to God or deeper into panic?

2. Your Worth Is Not Waiting for Marriage

Hold this verse: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” — Psalm 139:14

Your value is not delayed until someone chooses you. Before any relationship, proposal, or wedding day, God already sees you, knows you, and calls you wonderfully made.

Speak life: I am fully loved by God. My worth is not reduced, delayed, or waiting for a relationship.
Heart check: Am I letting delay rewrite what God says about me?

3. Singleness Is Not a Waiting Room

Remember this truth: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10

As Lauren Windle says in the video, this is your life as a single Christian. You do not have to postpone joy until marriage arrives. Instead, live, grow, serve, rest, travel, laugh, heal, and make memories now.

Speak life: I will not live a half-life while I wait. God is present with me today.
Heart check: Where have I been postponing joy until love arrives?

4. Guard Your Heart Without Hardening It

Let this guide you: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23

Guarding your heart does not mean becoming cold, suspicious, or closed. Rather, it means dating with wisdom, noticing red flags, asking honest questions, and allowing trusted people to speak into your choices.

Speak life: Lord, help me keep a soft heart and a wise spirit. Teach me to love without losing myself.
Heart check: Am I guarding my heart with wisdom or hiding it out of fear?

5. Hope Should Lead You Closer to God

Pray from this promise: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.” — Romans 15:13

Hope can become heavy when it turns into striving. So, keep bringing your desire back to God. Tell Him when you are tired, lonely, disappointed, or afraid to hope again. Many readers also find comfort in speaking Bible verses for God’s love during seasons of waiting and uncertainty.

Speak life: God is with me in this season. I can hope without striving and trust without fear.
Heart check: Is my hope producing peace, or has it become pressure?

If you are new to biblical declarations, start with What Are Biblical Declarations? before using marriage declarations. If you have ever wondered whether speaking Scripture daily really makes a difference, read Benefits of Biblical Declarations. It explores how speaking life can support faith, focus, peace, courage, and spiritual renewal over time. Furthermore, because declarations can easily be misunderstood, I recommend reading the Rules of Biblical Declarations before turning this into a daily rhythm. It will help you speak Scripture with faith, wisdom, humility, and spiritual responsibility.

  1. “Christian singles, your desire for marriage is not wishful thinking. Instead, it is God’s promise of marriage and part of God’s plan for your life, albeit waiting for your faith to meet His timing.”

Look, God does not promise marriage to any of us. That’s not in the Bible anywhere. How can you trust “God’s timing” for Him to fulfill a promise, when He never made you that promise in the first place?

Also, Isaiah 34:16 is not, I believe, a prophecy or promise about people’s future marriages. Some Christians die without ever seeing their desire for marriage fulfilled. In this prophecy, God says that He will make Israel’s territory so desolate that it will be inhabitable only by the animals who will live there. These animals are listed in Isaiah 34:13-15 (jackals, owls, desert creatures, hyenas, wild goats, night creatures, and falcons). It is these animals to which He is referring in verse 16. All of them will be present in the land, and there’ll be so many of them that none of these animals will die out as a result of being left without a mate.

Remember, Isaiah 34 is a passage about God’s coming judgment against Assyria and, apparently, an announcement of the judgment to come upon the nations during the Great Tribulation.

    1. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful perspective — I appreciate your attention to Scripture and context.

You’re right that Isaiah 34 speaks within a judgment context, and I agree it’s important we don’t misapply Scripture.

My intention in this post was to encourage those desiring marriage, not to present marriage as a guaranteed promise for every believer, but as a hope many hold before God.

I’ll look at refining the wording to reflect that more clearly. Thank you again for engaging so meaningfully.

      1. Oh, OK. Yeah, no problem!

Yeah, I appreciate that. Personally, as a single person who desires marriage, I can get very attuned to the fact that God doesn’t promise marriage to Christians, no matter how badly we want it. I don’t mean to sound caustic or anything.
