Did you know you have a resistance to stress weaved into your body system? You couldn’t have been created without resistance to stress just like a car won’t be manufactured without a shock absorber. Let’s think about this for a second. A car without a shock absorber is not fit to be on the road. It will cause several accidents and creates unthinkable havoc. The same applies to your body system. Without the resistance to stress in your body, you will not be fit to live life fully, not especially in this stress full life anyway. If God did not create you without adding resistance to pressure points in your body system, you would not have been able to withstand all manner of stress attack thrown at you on a daily basis. Perhaps you would have buckled under the yoke of stress by now. Thankfully, you are alive today and you are still standing to the glory of God. There was a time when I felt imprisoned by life. I couldn’t work. I couldn’t travel. I couldn’t go on holiday and I couldn’t go out with friends. I didn’t have a means of livelihood, therefore, couldn’t afford accommodation. I squatted with friends and family, and this had its challenges. When my mates were all merry, life stood still for me and all I could see was a tunnel without a glimpse of light at the end of it. That was a season when walls closed in on me and I kept drowning in the sea of life.
Although all I could see was darkness, there was light somewhere there and God showed me the light after all. At the end of it all, I followed the light and darkness disappeared into thin air. You may be going through this kind of season in life. I’d like to encourage to not panic. Do not give up. Have a mindset that all things are possible with God (Matthew 19:26). There is no condition or any situation that is permanent when we hand it over to God. Continue reading “3 Ways to Cope When In The Prison of Life.”
It is World Mental health week and I am reminded of the supernatural help God gave to me to combat depression and to win in life. I have no recollection of the particular moment when my life began to change for good but I remember some years ago when I found myself constantly crying, being moody, irritable and deeply saddened with life. I was ready to defend myself and to fight anybody who criticized, condemned or judged me for anything. There was not a day gone by that I did not cry or felt deep sadness for my life. I constantly felt so sorry for myself.
Everything around me was crashing down and the closest people around me were not emotionally available to help me deal with the situation at hand. The only thing I was able to do was to reach out for my Bible and to read it. It didn’t really matter to me whether I did not fully understand it theologically, I read it anyway, cover to cover and as I did, I called on the same God who gave many people victory in the Bible. I called on Jesus to help me and he did. Continue reading “10 Days of Speaking Life Over Depression”
We all have pride. It is embedded in our veins right from our mother’s womb. It’s an inheritance passed down from generations to generations. It’s in our DNA. It’s that thing that makes us feel more important than others. It’s that thing that makes us feel we deserve better than others. It’s that thing that makes us strive for the best in life. We see it in other people and we emulate it. The dictionary describes it as self-esteem or self-importance. If you like you can call it self-respect or self-worth. It’s all the same meaning. Some of us have it more than others.
As we travel through the journey of life, we’ve acquired it as a skill. We have fanned it into flame beyond God’s original intention for self-esteem and we have turned into pride. We have turned up that self-respect a notch and we have pumped up ourselves above everybody else, way beyond it should be. We view ourselves as bigger, better, smarter or richer than others. We cherish ourselves much more than we cherish the people in our lives. We are self-focused, self-centred and self-conceited. We have turned ourselves into the god of our lives and we hardly ever listen to anybody else in our lives. Pride is not a good attribute to have. It’s not a good thing to acquire or to cherish. It actually leads to one’s downfall.
Lord Jesus help me to grow in the awareness that you are really my sustenance and nobody else
Help me to continuously increase in the recognition that only you can make me become somebody in life
Help me to rest in your strength as I realise that I am weak in my flesh
I pray that I may be solely and wholly committed to my walk with you all the days of my life
I pray that I may be wholly contented with my life with you for the rest of my life
I pray that I may not turn away from the path of righteousness for your namesake
I pray that the devil will not have a chance to shift me from the kingdom of our heavenly father
I pray that my reliance in you may grow deeper today and that my assurance in you may grow wider
I pray that my faith in you may grow stronger and my zeal for you may grow bigger
I pray that I may continue to rely on your wisdom and I will no longer lean on my own understanding
I pray that I may yield to your instructions at all times and make you first in all that I do
Grant me the grace, the power and the strength to do the Father’s will for the rest of my life
I pray in Jesus name.
Lord, I am flawed and nothing can make me right before you.
I have sinned and no one can cleanse me from this guilt.
I have disobeyed you and now I must reap the consequences.
I am a sinner from my mother’s womb and nothing can cleanse me from this condemnation.
But you are merciful and you are just in your doings.
You will not condemn to death and neither will you neglect the work of your hands.
Lord, I cry for your mercy.
Lord, you are good and everything you do is perfect.
You are creative in your doings and all your creations are beautiful.
But we have made a mess of everything.
And you can no longer look upon us with iniquities saddled around our necks.
We have become like pigs soaked in dirt
Today Lord, I cry for mercy. Continue reading “Lord, Have Mercy!”
Forgiveness is not always easy most especially when you have to forgive yourself. It may be easy to forgive others when you do not see them every day but you cannot run away from yourself and this makes it harder. But however hard this is for you, you have to let bygone be bygone and you have to embrace God’s love in order to move forward.
We have all been through those moments when you wish you hadn’t said that or you hadn’t done that and it may be difficult to move forward from the mistakes we have made. In those moments when you are finding it difficult to let go of the shame you have caused, you may need to turn to God for help, comfort and consolation because your mistakes are all part o your learning curve in life.
I watched a Christian leader recently recounted his sins to some of the people he leads. With his head bowed and his voice shaken over what he thinks is an unforgivable offence, he was finding it difficult to come to terms with what he had done wrong. At the end of his confession was a piece of information even more shocking, he was going to step down from his position as a leader and he had already told the church council about it. I am who God says I am. I am God’s special child. I am a treasure in heaven. I am God’s beloved. I am perfect in His eyes. Believe it or not but these declarations are true. These are the way God feels about you. These are the things God says about you and these biblical declarations are what you should regularly declare over yourself. They will help you stay in the course of your true identity in God. They will help bring your mind back to God, build up your faith in God and align you with your real identity in God.
These Biblical declarations are like those daily doses of vitamins you need to stay healthy in life. They require nothing but your daily commitment to shifting your focus from distractions of this world, setting your mind on God’s word and speaking over yourself what God says about you in order for you to achieve all the things your heart ever desires.
A failure to do this is really setting yourself up for the world to call or label you with who you are not. So why not have a moment with Christ today and speak the following declarations over yourself so your world can change for good? Continue reading “20 Biblical Declarations of Who God Says I am”
Who does not need a personal revival from God? We all do. We all need a personal visitation and a special touch from God. We all need a personal revival from God. We need a revitalisation of our faith in Him.
We need an awakening in our spirit. We need restoration of everything we have lost. We need a renewal of our minds and the transformation of our lives. We need rejuvenation, resuscitation, a recovery, a quickening, a new awareness of His presence in our lives. We need revival. To get this revival we will need to answer some of the questions below and if your answer is yes to any of them then you need the revival prayers that follow.
Is your faith in God dead? Have you been a Christian for long but you cannot see any changes for good in your life? Does Christianity seem harder for you than it seems for other people? Do you desire some changes in your behaviour or attitude yet you are struggling to see the changes? Do you desire to have some zeal or passion for the things of God but you currently don’t have any? Do you struggle with some sins as a Christian but you desire freedom from such sins? Do you wish you can do some good but you keep finding yourself doing otherwise? All these things and more are a sign that you need a personal revival in your life. Continue reading “10 Biblical Prayers You Need for A Personal Revival.”
Those were his words to me. This person who is like a father to me. This person I look up to and glean wisdom from regularly. He was disappointed in me for making a mistake. Those words broke my heart. They hung over my head for weeks! I tried to make amends for my mistake but he wouldn’t accept my apology. Oh! I was disappointed. So disappointed that my heart hurt so badly.
He was not the kind of person I would ever want to disappoint in any way. He was not the kind of person I expected would ever say such a thing to me either. Not now and not ever. Having lost my father at the age of five, I looked up to him as a father. He mentored me in some areas of my life and then I blew it. I expected a lot from him just as he expected more from me. I expected some grace and some care from him but his words said otherwise. Continue reading “8 Days Biblical Declarations for You When Feeling Disappointed”
Criticism! You are probably wondering, What has it got to do with me?
As Christians, it has everything to do with our character. We do it more often sometimes than unbelievers but we are not called to criticise one another, we are called to correct in love. It may be easy to get caught up in the act of criticism but Jesus said: “Judge not, that you be not judged” (Matthew 7:1). When we criticise others for what they have done wrong, we get criticised in turn. This should not be our world. Christians are not called to criticise fellow Christians neither are we called to judge the world. We are called to correct in love.
When you criticise others harshly, it may send them to tears, it may make them feel sad and they may feel little about themselves. This does not promote the image of Christ and it does not show the love of God. But when we correct in love, then we would be doing our heavenly father’s will. We would have spread His love to the human’s heart and we would have helped the other person to draw a little bit closer to God. Continue reading “7 Days of Biblical Declarations to Help You Give Up the Criticism Spirit”
My flesh may burn with desires.
My stomach may churn with hunger.
My throat may thirst for water.
My eyes may lust for the world.
Lord, let your word prevail in me.
My past will not dictate my future.
My present life is unfolding with God’s features.
My future is in alignment with God’s plans and purpose for me.
Only God’s word will prevail over me. Continue reading “Lord, Let Your Word Prevail In Me”
Feeling abandoned? Jesus did too!
At the point of great persecution, Jesus was abandoned and betrayed by those closest to him. One of his closest disciples betrayed him. One of his best allies denied ever knowing him. The other ten disciples fled from the scene without any trace. And those followers? they were nowhere to be found!
Jesus the saviour, Emmanuel the healer, the comforter trapped in the human body yet free in his mind, burned in his flesh with pain and wounded in his heart by betrayal and abandonment! How could he have been so betrayed by those closest to him? Where did he do wrong?
Jesus Christ was condemned for your sake.
It is one of the horrible incidents anybody could ever experience in life. But Jesus Christ endured it so that you can have victory when you go through it in life. He was a righteous man who endured condemnation to death on the cross (1 Peter 3:18). He had all the power and authority to stop injustice being done to him but he didn’t react nor did he respond to any of it. Instead, he submitted himself willingly to abuse, insults, hurt, pain, rejection, and condemnation from people.
It may surprise you to know that the same people who praised him with shouts of Hosanna deserted him and mocked him on the cross. He didn’t do it all in vain however, he did it for a reason. He did it for you and me so that we can have victory when we experience condemnation in many areas of our lives. This should give you solace when feeling condemned, rejected and hurt by people. This realisation helped me a while back when I was condemned, rejected and eventually thrown out of a community. Continue reading “7 Biblical Declarations For You When Feeling Condemned by People”
Nobody is above tests in life. We all must go through it.
In fact, you would have written different tests in school throughout your childhood and all the way through to the university level in your adolescent. There is always one test or the other to write in order to progress from one class to another and the end result usually amounts to some level of academics achievement.
Your Life is not dissimilar to your educational experience. It is in different stages and it comes with different tests. In order to progress from one stage to another, there are different tests to write and those you must pass them. This is just the way God created the human being life cycle.
These tests are usually in the form of trials and tribulations. They often come unexpectedly and if you are unaware of them and unprepared for them, they will catch you off guard and you may fail them. When you fail these tests in your life, you will remain in one life cycle not moving forward, not achieving anything, not finding fulfilment nor purpose until you pass your tests.
You need to pass your life tests in order to progress to your next level in life. Continue reading “3 Things In Life God Uses to Test You.”
I had a panic attack recently and it gave me an insight into what most people who suffer from anxiety, fear of the future and Monday blues go through. I didn’t know what was happening to me at the time but it felt like my mind was going to pop right out of my chest. My chest was tight and I had very little strength in my body. My mind was numb and my brain was hurting badly. I thought I was going to run mad. I wanted to get through to the people around me but nobody picked up their calls. Revival is the renewal of the mind and the transformation of lives in a society. It doesn’t just happen, it starts from individuals. It starts with having a mindset for a true change and being persistent in prayers for a touch from the Lord. That is what we have been praying for in my church and it has somehow extended to me personally. Continue reading “3 Critical Things to Expect on a Personal Revival Journey.”
Every now and again I hear someone say to another person, can I pick your brains on something? and off they go to reason together, to share ideas that are beneficial to each other. Isn’t it interesting that we sometimes depend on other people’s ideas and opinions about something?
The marketing experts know how best to convince us to buy those products and we trust them because we know that they are the experts, they have the full knowledge of the products, they have possibly carried out their tests, surveys and analysis on this product and so we trust them to give us the best of what’s on offer. Come away with me. Let us go to a quiet place and rest for a while (Mark 6:31-33).
I recently resigned from my day job, albeit abruptly and almost immediately, I started to fill in my free time with activities; researching for new roles, updating my CV, applying for jobs and doing everything else that was ignored during my employment. Now I know as a child of God that my life is in His hands and I believe that my steps are ordered by Him but Not once did I pause to think that the Lord must have ALLOWED my day job to end abruptly for a reason in this season. However, in a hiatus moment, the Lord reached out and said to me, come away with me…. there’s a reason I allowed that employment to end abruptly. There’s a reason for this free time. I need to show you something and I need you to pay close attention. Continue reading “Enjoy Your Monday Moments with Christ”
We tend to be friends with certain people in life. We gravitate towards those we think we can trust, those we share common ideas and ideals of life, those we are alike in nature and those we like to get on with. And then we stay away from those with whom we have nothing in common, we neglect those we see as lower than us in social class or status, and we cast aside those who we think we cannot gain anything from them. What we look out for, what we see and think in choosing the people in our lives have been warped with selfishness and wrong motives. We are failing to see and embrace a vital lesson in the life of Jesus who was intentional in his choice of disciples. We are failed to see vital lessons from biblical narratives of relationships and friendships. So, who are the unusual types of friends and acquaintances we need in our lives who will be instrumental to us fulfilling our God-given assignments on earth? Continue reading “4 Types of Unusual Relationships You Need in Your Life.”
Feeling hopeless? There is hope in the God of all creations. He called forth light and darkness disappeared. He parted the sea and dry ground appeared. He called forth all plants out of the grounds and He made all kinds of animals from the depths of the seas. There is nothing impossible for him to do. He is the same God yesterday, today and forever. He delivered slaves out of captivity. He gives the wanderer a home and settles the lonely in a family. Continue reading “8 Days of Declaring Hope In God In a Hopeless Situation.”
Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
Speak about your words
Power of life and death is in your words
Your words create your reality
My words have power to defeat the enemy
Those same words have power to speak life and prosperity
I have been given the authority, yes I
I can move mountains by the words that I speak
By the power invested in me, I decree
God’s favor is resting on me Continue reading “I Speak it by Karen Clark Sheard”
Speak The Word Lyrics by Tina Campbell
Word of God is power
Sharper than a sword
It knows the thoughts you’re thinking
And what you’re feeling in your heart
It’ll teach you, train you, transform you if you let it in
It’ll cover you and carry you, turn you away from sin
If you want to be like Jesus, and live like he lived
You gotta read the Bible and do what he did
Speak the word
(Speak the word) If you’re tired of being in the situation you’re in
Speak the word
If you’re sick in your body and you’re ready to be healed
Speak the word
If the way you’re thinking has really got to change
Speak the word
‘Cause the power of life and death isn’t what you say
The word of God is your weapon
Use it to fight and win
Speak the word, you gotta speak the word, oh yeah
God loves you so deeply. He is fully committed to your well being. He has freely given you a lot of things you may sometimes fail to see and at many times you may have taken these things for granted. For example, can you imagine buying the air you breathe for your lungs? How much money would you need to spend for a breath per second?
A man once had a seemingly really bad day and he laid across his complaint to God saying; God, I set my alarm to wake me up but it didn’t. Then I hit heavy traffic on the way to work and that made me late to work. Why didn’t you wake me up and why did you allow me to hit the traffic? I didn’t wake you up because I know you needed some time to catch up on your sleep, God responded and I allowed the traffic so that you wouldn’t be involved in an accident that happened on your way to work. I wouldn’t want to welcome you in heaven knowing that you haven’t fulfilled your purpose on earth. Isn’t that a powerful story? Continue reading “10 Days of Speaking God’s Love Over Yourself with Biblical Declarations”
Can I ask you a question? When is the last time you really thought about the people in your life and you thought to pray God’s blessings over them or prayed for their well-being? This is something I was personally guilty of until a strong impression was laid upon my heart to start praying God’s blessings over the lives of the people in my life. It’s not just praying for your immediate family members or those who are close to you but praying for everybody on your mobile phone and on your email contact list, including those you don’t have direct contact with, those you don’t get along with, those you barely know and those you are probably just in business together. Continue reading “February Prayer and Declarations Challenge”
God wants you to pray over your relationships; family, work, social, church and community relationships. You may not have considered praying God’s blessings over your relationships before but you will be doing God’s will and yourself a great favour when you pray for every body in your contact list and everybody you are connected with in life (Ephesians 6:18). Continue reading “14 Days of Praying God’s Blessings Over Your Relationships”
It is sometimes easier to trust a man who you can see more than trusting the God whom you cannot see. If anything goes wrong with the man you see, you can hold him accountable. But with God, holding him accountable for your demise would be futile. Who do you want to call to the table of judgement than the same God who is the judge of all? But God is trustworthy. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will never let you down when everybody deserts you. When nobody can see the logic reasoning behind those difficult moments, God is there holding your hands up telling you that all shall be well. Continue reading “Trust God Completely Biblical Declarations”
Trust in God with all your heart and He will direct your path. Trust that He is working everything out in your favour and you will reap your reward. Trust his presence is in your life, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust in his ability, He is able to bring your dreams and desires to pass. Have you ever seen a child who does not trust his parents or a horserider who does not trust the horse he is riding? Hardly does this ever happen! Mutual trust usually exists between both parties. The child completely trusts his parents with unwavering faith and a horse does not allow a human to mount him unless he has gained the trust of the rider. This is for the Christian who sometimes feel less self-worth. This is for you who the society oftentimes make you feel a little less of who you are. It is for you who the community, friends, family or loved ones make you feel less of who the Lord created you to be. This is for you who sometimes get hurt as a result of people’s judgemental opinion of your behaviour, you who suffer from constant criticisms of your choices or disapproval of your decisions in life and making you feel less confident of your self-worth. Many people want to live a happy life but they are belaboured with sadness that comes from unfulfillment, troubles and trials of the world. Consider the life of a mother who once sought the Lord for a child many years. She laboured for nine hours in the labour room to bring the child to earth and nurtured the child up to adolescent but for the child to turn against her. That child has become a source of unhappiness for that mother and she cannot live a happy life due to her circumstance. Continue reading “Live a Happy Life Despite Your Circumstances”
The world often offers temporary happiness that comes with material things but there is true lasting happiness that is found in Jesus. It is a gift from God that comes when you choose Jesus as your Lord and saviour. It is a form of happiness that cannot be bought with money and neither can it be exchanged with worldly material things. It comes to dwell in your heart when you invite Jesus into your life and it grows within you when you spend time in the word of God. You have the capacity to contain it in your heart and you have the power in your tongue to speak it into existence in your world. Continue reading “Choose Lasting Happiness In Jesus With God’s Word”
This world is far too busy and far too preoccupied with activities that it often forgets to make happiness a part of its everyday living but the world can only function fully when it intentionally pursue happiness regularly. It is part of God’s plan for your life despite its elusiveness in the world. It is included in your inheritance through Christ and you have the right to claim it regularly using God’s Word.
You need to speak it into existence, pursue it throughout the year and it will come alive for you. Make it a point of duty to speak happiness into your day first thing in the morning and you will cultivate the attitude of happiness throughout the year. It will lighten your mood, attract the right people to you, open great doors you have never imagined and it will take you places you have not planned into your year.
Speak it over yourself as often as you say the Happy New year greetings to your loved ones. Declare it into your life until it affects positive changes in your world. Speak happiness over your life in alignment with God’s word for your New year goals and it will activate your desire for the best year ever. Continue reading “Speak Happiness Into Your Year With God’s Word”
Nobody hides away a precious gift? Instead, they tear away the wrapping paper to reveal the hidden gift and they show it off to the world. In like manner, you ought to uncover the gifts of God within you and show it off to the world. You ought to let the world encounter God’s great gift deposited within you. You ought not to allow God’s investment in your life go to waste. You must express the great gifts within you.
Some people are good at hoarding and hiding gift items. But of what use are those gifts when hidden away? They can only sit pretty hidden unless they are brought forth, showed off and put to good use. You were not created to be a hoarder of God’s gifts. You were made to be creative and expressive. Continue reading “5 Day Biblical Declarations to Help You Show Off the Gifts Within”
Thank God for Christ who is the greatest gift of all time. If it were not for Christ, my mother and all her children would not be alive today. Her story is one of the many stories that make my heart be filled with thanksgiving to God. At some point in her life, my mother suffered from a heart condition that caused her to faint all the time. She was trained as a teacher but she simply could not function in that capacity. Due to her condition, she could not do anything with herself. She was written off by the doctors and one day she eventually gave up the ghost. Continue reading “Thank God for the Gift of Christ!”
Did you know you have an in-built stress resistance? Yes, you do. God built it into you. Otherwise, you would not have bounced back from every stress attack you encounter on a daily basis. If you did not have an inbuilt stress resistance, you probably would not be standing to see the day. Stress is a joy killer and a peace-thief that should not be given the time of day. You need to not allow it into your homes, your streets or your workplace. You can resist it and it will flee from you. Continue reading “Resist Stress and It Will Flee From you”
For the first time in my adult life I experienced a chronic stress. It hit me without warning because I didn’t protect myself from it. I wasn’t aware of it and so I wasn’t prepared for it. Had I been exposed to it one way or the other, perhaps I would have been prepared and I would have protected myself from it. I am only sharing this so as not to scare you but expose the devil’s way of stealing, killing and destroying lives, and so that you can learn from my experience and you can protect yourself from it. Prevention they say is better than cure. What better way is there to prevent a thing than to protect yourself from it? You need to protect yourself from stress with the word of God. Unlike its many counterparts, stress is
It does not have regards for the young nor for the old. It happens to everybody. It is ruthless and deadly. Once it settles on its victim, it doesn’t let go until it has drained life out of that individual. You really don’t want to cross its paths. This is why it’s important to protect yourself from it before it descends on your doorsteps, in your doorway or dormitories, at home or at work
It will guard and protect your mind against stress attack.
“Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23)
you will fall into it before you say, Jack Robinson. Stress is one of the things we all encounter on a day to day basis. If it were human we would recognise it from afar, prepare our minds for its arrival, fight against it or avoid it altogether. If it were a man, we would pull ourselves together, brace its consequences and prepare our minds for whatever attack he might bring our way and if it were a woman, we would devise a way to deal with her eccentricity or complexity. However, stress is not easily seen nor recognisable until it has struck and neither does it come in different appearances of women. Instead, it takes the form of a spirit, travels through the air, sometimes possesses a human body and appears through situations and circumstances. Humility is not one of the Christian character traits we often see in people these days. Everybody is self-centred and self-focused. In fact, we are often encouraged to take pride in ourselves, to put ourselves forward for that promotion and to take pride in our achievements. Yet the message of Christ is that we completely humble ourselves, think of others first and be the servant of all if we want to be the greatest amongst all. Continue reading “5 Days of Biblical Declarations to Help You Be Completely Humble”
Imagine waking up in the morning with a knowing that there is a plan in place for your provision and nothing can stop the execution of that plan. Would you not live your life free of worry, fear and anxiety? Would you not wake up with joy in your heart, a dance on your feet and a big smile on your lips? You would! and this is what knowing God’s plan for your life does. It liberates you and puts you in a good stead daily.
Imagine having everything you need in the day all set out before you. How to navigate through every twists and turns of the day are all laid out in the plan. What to do, what not to do, which road to take, which task to do first and more are all laid out for you. You wouldn’t have to lift a brow or break a sweat to work things out. How would that make you feel? Empowered? Fulfilled? Peaceful and Restful? That is exactly what God wants to achieve in your life when you seek his face for his plans for your life. It’s Easter Sunday and I recount the day I accepted Jesus Christ the saviour into my life. Before this day, I was still a sinner. Even though I grew up in a Christian home, I went through all the motion of praying, fasting, reading my Bible and going to church regularly. I even said the salvation prayer at some point in my teenage years but living the Christian life never really did sink into my mind.
I remember quite clearly the day I cried out to Jesus Christ to save me. I was drowning in sorrow, guilt and shame. I was depressed and going through a really rough time in all areas of my life. I was rejected by family and friends and nobody seemed to want to have anything to do with me. I had been bruised and knocked down emotionally and battered physically which led to my suffering from a low self-esteem. Continue reading “Accept Jesus Christ As Your Lord and Saviour”
Temptations will always come when you least expect it and it comes in variety of ways. Jesus was tempted with food when he was hungry. David was tempted with sexual lust during his leisure time. Eve was tempted with getting wisdom whilst working in the garden of Eden. Joseph was tempted while in prison and Judas Iscariot was tempted with money in ministry. The devil will always find a way to tempt you. You cannot escape it. If he tempted Jesus Christ the Messiah, he will most likely tempt you his follower. The devil’s day and night job is to steal, to kill and to destroy, and his most targeted audience are Christians with purpose, destined children of God and anointed children of God. Staying in faith can be quite a struggle for new Christians if care is not taken. Begum Bilquis Sheikh was a new convert from Islam to Christianity and in her book, I dared to call him father, she narrated her story of family exclusions, community condemnations, death threats and several attempts to dissuade her from her newfound faith in Christ. Her journey to becoming a fully fledged Christian was not at all that smooth. Yet she persisted in her faith and she followed Christ with all her heart, her mind and with all her might. Had she not been convinced of her call to Christ, she would have crumbled under pressure and she would have lost her faith entirely. It is so easy to hold God responsible for the bad things that happened to us. We accuse him of allowing bad things to happen, hurricane crushing people’s homes, divorce destroying families, relationships breaking down, children’s identity being stolen, being neglected during difficult times and the list goes on. But we forget what we have done wrong and the consequences that may follow the course of our actions. We lose our peace with God and we forget that He is still sovereign over everything. He chooses to do or not to do and nobody can do not prevent that incident from happening. We blame him and we hold out on him. We turn our back on the Prince of Peace and we hold grudges with the same God who is able to turn that situation around. How then can we be healed, delivered and forgiven if we keep the doors of our hearts shut against the Prince of peace? How can he right the wrongs if we keep up the walls of our heart and sealed against his love. How can we experience his love if we keep hating, keep running, keep despising the author of peace? Walking alone in the world without God is foolhardy. And leaning on your own understanding without asking God for wisdom and direction can only lead to one thing; death. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it is the way of death (Proverbs 16:25 (CSB)”). God is all knowing like God and his ways lead to life. He is the only omnipotent and omniscient in existence. With him you are safe and found. Without him you are lost and in danger in the world. When you follow God’s ways, salvation is guaranteed, you can experience deliverance, your redemption is secured and you are protected from impending evil. Continue reading “Walk With God”
How can this be? How can you bring a baby into the world when the father has deserted you? How can you forgive those who hurt you when the memory grips you with pain every time you remember? How can you focus on new beginnings when you lack the strength to move forward from past experiences. Continue reading “Go and Do The Impossible.”
Did you know that the humble pie is not a physical pie? In those days, when people go to the butcher and they ask for a humble, they are asking for the inside of an animal, especially of a deer to be used as food. The original term for the humbles is numbles, from the Middle French nobles, acquired as a variant umbles, sometimes later spelt humbles. At some point, however, the resemblance of the deer’s humble became irresistible and the literal pie became a metaphorical one signifying self-abasement. When somebody tells you to go and eat the humble pie these days, it simply means that you exhibit some prideful character and you need to humble yourself.
We all need to humble ourselves. Pride is not a character that exalts anybody rather it destroys. To some extent, our inside should also be irresistible to God and to others. We should reflect on the state of our hearts and work to grow in humility because God is more attracted to a humble heart than a prideful heart. Although we all have the tendencies to be prideful, we ought to repent of this and ask the Lord to give us a heart of humility. We should ask the Lord for a change of heart as such is a humble heart that the Lord exalts. Before Jacob was able to return to his homeland to face his twin brother Saul, the Lord had to work on his heart for twenty-one years under his uncle Laban. Jacob had learnt so much life lessons including that of humility that it was easier for him to humble himself when faced with his twin brother Esau.
