Speak Peace to the Storms Declarations

Peace of God

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you” (Isaiah 43:2).

Friends! Jesus spoke peace to the storms. The three Hebrew men; Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego spoke faith into their fears. They said to the King their persecutor The image that comes to mind when meditating on this scripture is that of an individual crossing over a deep water and this person is afraid of being swept away but there is someone stronger and bigger than this individual who is walking side by side to him or her and urging them to carry on crossing because he is with them and they have nothing to be afraid of. This is exactly what the peace of God is when you submit your fears and anxieties to him. You have nothing to be afraid of because God is with you, gently guiding you and directing you on the right path.

When the three Hebrew boys Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were going to be thrown in the fire, they did not go ballistic instead they surrendered their fears to God and they exchanged their fears for God’s peace; “The God whom we serve will deliver us from you king…” and that God delivered them. He turned the burning fire into an air condition for them. Instead of them to be burning they were having a swell time with the Lord. This is what God means when he said in his word; When you go through fire it will not burn you for I am with you.

It is often said that a life without Christ is full of crisis. Life will always happen. Trials and tribulations will always come. There are times when life may seem chaotic and all you want to do is to find some peace and quietness. During such moment, I sometimes shut myself away from the world and I seek for peace in a retreat centre,  a hotel room away from home on a holiday, my room at home away from everybody else or even a quiet space at work. Those times away from the noise and the hullabaloo of the world sometimes help to rejuvenate my mind, body and spirit, but the truth is, such peace often only last but for a moment.

However, there is a peace that lasts a lifetime and it is often found in Jesus Christ. This peace that Christ gives helps us during the storms of life. This peace that Christ gives is in abundance and it adds no sorrow to us. Christ’s peace gives hope and helps us to stay afloat. Those who accept peace through Christ will always ride the tempestuous storm effortlessly. No matter how strong or how weak you are, no matter how talented or whether not so talented you may be, no matter how rich or how poor you may be, unless you accept and embrace the peace Christ gives in the storms, you will end up cracked open and broken in the storm.

During trials, some people will say, I am just trying to keep my head above waters”. As a follower of Christ, you need not try to keep your head above waters; through Christ you can confidently swim through deep waters of life. God said, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you“.(Isaiah 43:2).

Peace is a gift from God and it is readily available for you. You only need to accept Christ. Accept his promises. Accept the peace he came to give the world. Speak out loud the following Bible declarations until your faith has been made stronger and you will see the word of God come alive for you in Jesus name.
