WHY SHOULD YOU READ THE BIBLE?
Bible reading is more than a religious duty; it can change your life. If you ever want to speak Biblical declarations with power and confidence, begin with reading the Word. After all, it is a powerful Christian practice to connect with God and enhance your life.
Even Jesus Christ read the Scriptures before starting his ministry. He is the most inspirational person ever, and he made reading the Word of God a priority. If he used the Bible to overcome challenges and live victoriously, imagine what it could do for you! Interestingly, Acts 17:28 tells us that “in him, we live, move, and have our being. Also, John 1:1 informs us that, Christ is the Word that guides our lives. Therefore, to follow Christ, you need to make Scripture reading a regular part of your life.
Even Satan knows the Word of God and twists it to deceive people. If Eve had read the Scriptures before Satan tempted her, she might have defended herself with truth (Genesis 3:1-13). Since Satan can distort the Scriptures, you must read the Bible to stay rooted in truth. Besides, Bible reading strengthens you against temptation, gives your life meaning, and connects you to God’s purpose.
Billy Graham once said, “If you are ignorant of God’s Word, you will always be ignorant of God’s will.” Hence, reading the Bible brings clarity and direction.
HOW TO READ THE BIBLE EFFECTIVELY
1. Make Time for Bible Reading
The biggest challenge many face with reading the Bible is finding time. However, as Peter Tan-chi wisely said, “You will not have time for everything, but you will make time for what is important.” If reading your Bible is important, time will never be an issue. After all, Jesus made time to read the Scriptures and fortified himself to fulfil his mission (Luke 2:41-52). You must do the same—prioritize reading your Bible to build spiritual strength and overcome life’s challenges.

3. Pray for Understanding
Before reading the Bible, pray and ask the Holy Spirit for help. Above all, He is the divine teacher who reveals the hidden truths in Scripture and gives you power to activate God’s Word in your life. Jesus said, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” (John 15:5). So, rely on the Holy Spirit to gain wisdom and revelation from your Bible reading.
