Grateful for the Experiences of Life
I love the hymn song; Count your blessings written by Johnson Oatman Junior. You have probably sang it in church or at home or perhaps you’ve heard someone else sang it. It’s a powerful song that calls humanity to show some attitude of Gratitude even when things aren’t going so well, focus less on those things and choose to see the many blessings that has come your way.
My mum used to say to me in our local Yoruba dialect; “Yin ni Yin ni, Ke ni se mi”; it means praise people or somebody for what they have done and they’ll do so much more. This is the attitude to adopt everyday and not just on the traditional thanksgiving day or the Thanksgiving Sundays as some Pentecostal churches do. The more you thank God for past blessings the better your outlook in life becomes and the more blessings the Lord will pour out on you.
A lot has happened to me this year. The good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly; just name them, they’ve all happened but in the midst of it all, I just can’t but not reflect upon the goodness of the Lord. My heart is filled with gratitude and thanksgiving to God for the many things he has done for me.
I am grateful to God for good experiences that have kept me happy, joyous, made my heart merry and kept my feet dancing on the ground. I am also grateful to God for the seemingly bad experiences because these help me grow closer to God and they help me to become a better version of myself.
What is that one thing you are grateful to God for in particular? Leave a comment below and let’s connect. Happy Thanksgiving!
