3 Critical Things to Expect on a Personal Revival Journey.
Revival is the renewal of the mind and the transformation of lives in a society. It doesn’t just happen, it starts from individuals. It starts with having a mindset for a true change and being persistent in prayers for a touch from the Lord. That is what we have been praying for in my church and it has somehow extended to me personally.
In my quest for an intimate relationship with the Lord and sending regular prayers for a personal revival to heaven, I have noticed some events have taken place in my life and these I believe are critical to a Christian journey into personal transformation in Christ.
The below list is not an exhaustive list but it’s the beginning of a new life in Christ. If you’re like me and seeking for a personal revival and the following events take place in your life, you might be heading for an experience of a lifetime with the Lord.
1) A Separation – Abraham was instructed to leave his father’s household. Jacob was sent away to a distant relative in an attempt to hide from his brother who was ready to kill him. Joseph was sold into slavery as a result of envy and jealousy. Moses ran away from the king who was after his life to kill him. Even baby Jesus was hidden away from the king who was after his life to kill him. Ruth was separated from the family she knew into a strange land. Esther was separated from her uncle, she became a queen overnight to an old king but that was the beginning of her personal transformation journey. Separation is inevitable and it happens to individuals in various ways.
If you must have a personal revival and a personal encounter with God, you need to expect some sort of separation. It may be a separation from your loved ones, from a familiar environment, from a career or employment, from anything and anyone that you rely on and that which you confidently put your trust. Somehow God has to separate you from everything that is stopping you from living the life He intended for you and He will find a way to get your attention on this, separation is one of the ways he uses to catapult you into your personal revival.
2) A Change of heart and mind – A personal revival doesn’t come until you have had a change of heart and mind from God. King Saul was not a king until he had an encounter with the man of God Elijah who prayed for him. On his way home, God gave him a change of heart and a change of mind. Suddenly he started to see things clearly and he started to act as the kind of leader he would eventually become.
Saul whom the Lord turned his name to Paul also had a change of heart and a change of mind from the Lord. On his way to Tarshish, while in pursuit of Christians to persecute them, Paul had an encounter with Jesus and his heart and mind were changed for the Lord. He went on to be one of the greatest Apostles on earth for the Lord.

3) An exposure to your life calling – You would have heard a lot about finding your calling and you’re probably asking the question, how do I find my calling in life? The truth is that everybody’s calling in life is different and the way the Lord reaches out to individuals on their calling is different. One thing is sure though, the Lord will find ways to expose you to elements of your calling if not to your full calling in life.
Look at the life of Moses for example. He was a child born to a slave in Egypt but he was rescued by the princess of Egypt. As a result of his upbringing, he became exposed to living a life both as an Israelite and as an Egyptian. He was exposed to the injustice he would later try to correct but that which sent him running away from the king. He lived in the wilderness but soon faced his calling full time. The rescued eventually became the rescuer.
Every detail of your life has been intricately woven into your calling in life. Everything that you have been exposed to in life or that you will be exposed to in life are indicators of your calling in life. God knows how to expose you to your calling and he will find a way to do it without your permission. You just need to be willing to see it, discover it and live it.
So if you are on a journey of a personal revival, or you’re in a season of transformational change or perhaps you’re seeking the Lord for spiritual growth, expect at least one or two or all three of this list to happen on your journey. Feel free to drop me an email or to leave a comment about finding your calling or praying for a personal revival. Till next time.
Yours in Christ,
