Daily Declarations to Help You Confess Your Sins.

Who doesn’t sin? We all do it, and we’ve all been there. We have all sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). If God were to search through the earth for anybody without a sin, nobody can stand (Ecclesiastes 7:20). That is why Jesus pointed it out to the accusers of the woman caught in the act of adultery; “Let he without sin cast the first stone” (John 8:1-12). There is nobody on earth who is sinless, not one person. Only Jesus was sinless whilst on earth, and there has not been anybody else without sin after him.

We live in a sinful world, and our hearts are full of sin. The Bible says that the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? (Jeremiah From our mother’s womb, we inherited sin; it was ingrained in our blood, in our psyches and in our world such that when we were born, we didn’t know how not to be sinful.  Sin is automatic to us. Have you ever caught a child doing something wrong and asked them what they’ve done? More often than not, their automatic response is to lie, “I didn’t do it, Daddy”, or “It wasn’t my fault, Mummy”. They want to hide their sins. Have you ever wondered where they got that from? They got it right from the womb.

Jesus does not condone sin, but he shows mercy, and he condemns the hypocrisy of the judgemental others, and anybody who judges others will also be judged themselves. If you hide your sins from the Lord God, you will not prosper. But if you confess and forsake your sins, you will receive mercy (Proverbs 28:13). God knows the intent of the heart, and when we hide our sins before him, we are rattled with guilt and restlessness in our spirit. But when we confess our sins before God in genuine repentance, he gives us full confidence to come before his throne, and he restores our spirit before him (Psalm 51:1-10).

Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD .” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Therefore, let all the godly confess their rebellion to you while there is time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment (Psalm 32:1-6).

Today I confess my sins and I renounce my rights to them, therefore I obtain mercy from the Lord.
